Malaysia to host final F1 race in October

http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/sports/ ... in-October

KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysia will stage its final Formula One Grand Prix in October after the government and the sport's commercial rights holders announced on Friday that their hosting agreement would end a year early.

Malaysia has hosted a round of the world championships at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC) since 1999 but the government said last November that the deal would not be renewed when it ran out at the end of 2018.

On Friday, however, both parties announced that the Oct 1 race this year would be the last.

"It's always sad to say goodbye to a member of the Formula 1 family," Sean Bratches, Formula 1 commercial operations managing director, said in a statement.

"Over nearly two decades the Malaysian Formula 1 fans have proven themselves to be some of the sport's most passionate supporters."

Prime Minister Najib Razak said on Friday that declining ticket sales, viewership and tourism were behind the decision to pull out of hosting the race................................more at link

Let's see what happens today. I held off making picks until after qualifying because of the uncertainty surrounding the incomplete practices. I come to find if I had made picks I would have picked Hamilton on pole so in essence I threw away 3 points. :banghead: My race picks are probably no better than if I hadn't waited, we'll see. :? Yes, about an hour from now unless they've changed it due to weather.

Hamilton has his first win of the season, and Verstappen made it an even more exciting race after coming from 16th to 3rd and holding off Ricciardo at the end.

Pitsch had the best race with 14.5 points. The leaderboard seems not right to me so let's wait and see if Superbru adjusts it. It looks like they didn't add the points properly from the two races completed. Someone else please look at it also and let us know what you think? I really don't like this new F1 format Superbru has initiated.

Here are results for China:

I agree about the new scoring system, the cumulative scores are all messed up. I'm definitely bottom of the heap, if I've got my maths right.

The two first races seem to pan out like this:
Pitsch: 27
BB: 24.5
P.Harv: 24.5
Pete: 24
RZR: 24
Bamboo:24
MW:23
BSDK: 23
JJ: 23
Lind: 22.5
Para: 20.5
VS: 20

Well done Pitsch - you're pulling out rather a lead after only two races.

Our apologies for any inconvenience caused. Please let us know if you need any further assistance.

Jenson Button set to replace Fernando Alonso for McLaren at Monaco Grand Prix

Button is a reserve driver per contract, but I don't know for how many years? He needs to practice a plenty though before the race as he's stale for sure, and a completely new type of car then he's used to. Pete
