I presume you`re being a little bit provoking when the answer is they`re really not good enough

Was just looking at the match up's for round #1 starting on Thursday. It's really blind throwing of darts IMO. You can read articles until you turn blue, but at this stage it's just luck to pick a winner, except concerning a handful of well known teams. :banghead: :D Pete

1) Is Russia really that good?

2) Is Saudi really that bad?

3) Was it fixed by Putin magic so the host won the opener?

In this day and age I lean towards believing #3. Pete

I am no football fan, but a review of the 'experts' seem to narrow it to just 4-- Germany, Spain, France, Brazil

It was definitely a case of Saudi being that bad.

Why don't you add a poll Pete, to gauge how members feel about the outcome of the tournament?

[Edit] I'll add it.

HaHa, I voted with my heart, not my brain. I see Brazil are early leaders in the poll, which is in line with what the TV pundits were saying yesterday.

I thought yesterday was a game between two poor sides. Some nice goals, but generally a poor standard. Maybe both teams were drugged? One with uppers and one with downers! :D

I can't choose a winner of the tournament at this stage, it seems very open. But I suspect Spain and Argentina will be there or thereabouts.

Spain has no coach. Will they rally, or will they dissolve? Will be interesting to watch. Pete

I don't think anybody will disagree with that, but 5 good goals in what is traditionally the most drab game of the tournament was a huge bonus and made the game palatable.

Going back to the prediction league, have you seen the huge list of people who incredibly got the score spot on?

The game was as poor as the opening ceremony...really Robbie Williams?!? On another sad note I was way off with my prediction and really thought KSA would put up more of a fight....lesson learned :tsk:

Tonight some good games, Uruguay vs. Egypt (with Mo starting) and the highlight Portugal vs. Spain at 1am

Cheers,
B.
