Hi Siani.

I live in Copenhagen, and work all over in Denmark and I woulden't suggest Aalborg if you only have a few day in DK before you go skiing.

Tivoli in Copenhagen is a must in christmas time and Dyrehaven near Klampenborg just 14 km. north of Copenhagen center is very nice if you enjoy a good long walk or take a horse carriage around and see all the deer, and eat at some of the restaurant.
There is train go to Klampenborg.

If you go further north to Helsingoer you can take the boat to Helsingborg which take 20 min.

As other mention it's a little expencive in DK,but food can be found in many range.

Have a nice holiday whatever you choose, and fell free to ask if you need further information.

Thanks for all your information, it is really kind and helpful. I will certainly take your advise. Re: Skiing, its just for my son to go maybe only one or two days, but not vital. Thanks also for all the links, if you think of other things please let me know. Tak!

I'm not sure about skiing but I think Isaberg is your best option in south sweden,but remember you need winter tyres after 1 december so check with your rental company.

Theres a boat with DFDS from Copenhagen to Oslo that leaves 5 pm I think and would arive in the morning and will save a hotel and could save 600 km.

Alpine skiing is not and option in DK. as were are flat as a pancake

What I have planned so far is:
2 days (Christmas and Boxing day) Copenhagen. The hotel restaurant is closed so will have to look for a restaurant in the city.
On the 27th drive up to Göteborg and have 3 nights there. I have seen some skiing in Vallåsen and Isaberg which are within driving distance. I suppose the car hire company will have snow tyres I thought then get the ferry from there across to Frederikshavn. Then have the 30/31st somewhere else on way back down, haven't booked that bit yet....it takes me forever, I drive Mr S mad!! We will see the danish places then on the way back down. Anyway, first bit is booked

If I remember right your son is not so old so maybee a trip to Randers regnskov coud be fun


140 km.south from Frederikshavn past Aalborg is Randers regnskov ( rainforest ) that is interesting :

If you stay in stay Aarhus which is DK second largest city and about 30 km. south of Randers and is a better choice than Aalborg IMHO you could take the boat to
Sjaelands Odde and see Roskilde Domkirke :

you could drop Aarhus and go to Ebeltoft that is 55 km. south - east from Randers and they got a nice national park called Ebeltoft Mols bjerge ( mountain ) and from there you can allso take the ferry to Sjaelands Odde :

Last a trip to Christiania is interesting but remember not to buy any gaja as the police search people sometimes and would not be a nice finnish on a good holiday

we are quite proud of the zoo in Copenhagen but don,t take the car if you come a little late after opening and the weather is good I live just around the corner and you don't move the car just to go shopping as thee will be no parking spots when you return,its very close to the center,so a bus or taxi.If you are 3 or more people a taxi from the center should be the same as bus ticket's ;

We are all adults, my son is in his 40's. I am booking the last bit of the trip today so will look at Aahus hotels. We hope on this bit to see the forest, deer etc...although after watching Wallander, Arne Dahl and the Bridge am a little nervous of venturing into the woods!!

yes the scenery in Norway is very spectaculla and is a place I have been many times and sweden is allso very nice.

I have booked the last 2 days in Aahus. All looks exciting, can't wait to go. I know it will be cold and dark but the cities look full of lights and fun! I do not mind the cold, its only a winter break. I also like to visit countries I have not been to before.
