Good suggestion Pete.

For any newbies who may not have heard the story, How do you make a small fortune from a bar in Thailand ? start out with a big one!

I would never dream of buying a bar to try and earn a good income, it wouldn't work, if the bar became very succesful that's when the problems would arise because of jealousy etc.
But if you could have somewhere with sleeping quarters, also maybe 1 ST room, well???

the name of the bar being French for butterfly. I am very sorry if there are 2 bars in town by this name, and this post makes me look an even bigger prat. (previous topic in N/Cs was titled 'be aware,be very aware').
US: I was thinking the same but I dont think its the original chopper in Night Crawlers. Sounds like a bogus poster having a laugh unless im mistaken.

Walked past the bar in question the other night and it was dead!

I had a drink with them one night and they are very friendly people. Seem to be no trouble whatsoever in the time I stayed at Jings. They were there every night and not one ounce of trouble. But as you say, on 1st appearances, they could put you off going into such bar if they are there drinking opposite every night.
The only things I regret are the things I didn't do

When I open a bar it will be called "Fresh Off The Farm Bar" , with some lovely young new talent from Buriram.
Also available will be an 'interview room' where you can spend a Short Time interviewing the lady to see if she is a possible 'keeper'.
All I need now is to win tomorrows Lottery.:)

Gus great business plan! i will say this bar is up for sale, for less than half spent, and it really is not a bad bar inside but for sure over supply everywhere.

So what makes any bar stand out from another, to start with society's will help but i think you need to be rich and want a hobby, or have your brain removed at the airport.

I forgot to mention up north where i am at present you can rent a three story shop unit for Baht 3,000k a month and if you rent two and make it a double unit you will get your normal usage electricity for free.

Now for me i will bus 25km's just for a wet and to use there WIFI and farang food make it really worth while.
Bars up here have more chance of making a go of it.

Kendo,

OK, my sources tell me that Goannas/Lolitas/Linley bar is due to re-open on Sunday 16th as UP2U bar.
The person pulling the strings will be HHs favourite Falang from Lucky Lukes 2.

The guy is a drunken lunatic. Responsible for creating chaos in Binta and soi 80. Only his wallet has saved him from being locked up or deported.

Steer clear. He's walking a fine line

Now then Richard, don't hold back...

..say what you really think.. :D

How a bar owner runs his premises doesn't really bother me - variety is great...

except when he or she has the bad manners to blast the eardrums of everyone else in the soi..

Yes, the technology exists now to play music at extreme volumes without spending a fortune on kit, but that doesn't make it a good idea to do so..

Excess volume does not put baht in the till (in HH at least, it is clear that the noisiest bars are not the busiest) - and it is certainly most inconsiderate.

I for one will not patronise any bars that use excess volume in their sound systems.
I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I shall be sober and you will still be ugly...
