Curlybaggie,

The HH nightlife is not the same as in other parts of Thailand, - which is why we're rather fond of it..

Did you notice that none of the girls in the bars wear numbers? Shock Horror! - they not only have names, but you have to remember them too!

And while there are some very proactive young ladies around, you mostly have to go and say hello. Chat up? In Thailand? - Whatever next..!

And if you fancy taking a girl out of a bar, don't go asking her how much you have to give her - it's just not done in HH (although your reputation will be mud if you underpay her..)

In most bars the girls will set the balls for you - but if they're in the middle of a meal, is 30 seconds work for you such an ordeal?

Most bar girls in HH like to be thought of as ordinary girls who happen to need a little cash.

- I like to think of them as ordinary girls too..

I like Tina's bar, usually go there early evening and have a few beers and watch the world go by, have a couple of games of pool with the girls and they are sound, never had a problem with them.

@Curlybag: there's a "going rate", although there's some debate as to what this is and there's a number of factor's which can affect it. Enough digging around in the right places will yield some info on this. Negotiating up front (or not) is quite a controversial subject with many opinions on the pros and cons. My advice would be to listen to the different opinions and advice but in the end do what you feel most comfortable with.

As Lev advises once you reach 10 posts there's a hidden section of the forum in which these matters can be discussed less cryptically.

Whilst Hua Hin is not Bangkok I have had many great nights out here. There is a huge variety of restaurants to cater to every taste and budget and plenty of bars to do the same. It could do with a bit more variety IMHO on the bar scene. Many of us either own or rent a house/condo. I would rather invite selected people over for dinner and a few drinks (quite a few usually!) or go locally where I do not have to drive too far. It is cheaper and you are only in the company of people you wish to be with. Of course you have to hit the strip from time to time to avoid going stir crazy and I do hit a few bars but not more than once a week at most. If I was on a 2 week holiday the story would be different of course.

Have a good weekend

I will get into trouble with the mods if I post the answer here.

PM me and I will explain, or better still, ask a seasoned punter for guidance when next in town..

If you're thinking of heading over to Pattaya the Pattaya Talk forum has loads of good info and advice that can be used all over Thailand. To get access to the special areas you just need to submit an eMail.

Curlybaggie,
Don't listen to it all, doubt you are in trouble with anyone, read the forum T&Cs, which all forums have ironically, and you'll be fine.

Forums are about contributing and getting the same out of it. The reason new members are not allowed to gain access until 10 posts (not a lot really) to a certain area (adult forum) is to stop spamming, which is reasonable.

You are not on dangerous ground unless you drift into the 4 main areas of conflict, which are, links to competing forums, drugs, flaming posts and being a 'dick' generally to other members and discussion on royalty (big no-no), and they are all in the T&Cs.

If you want to know about Hua Hin, then there is no better place to find it than right here on this forum as almost everyone on the forum visits or lives there (in Hua Hin). There are also some that post who live in many other areas of Thailand (but visit too) that have been here in LOS a very long time too, so can give info better than most on many other areas too, whether it be Isaan/Rayong/Samui/The North etc.

Everyone's welcome if they aren't a troll. If you want info just post away as that's the point of a forum/info portal, there'll be someone who knows something no matter where/what it is.

No worries, if you are going south then someone will tell you, or me for that matter. I'm just a regular poster too dude.

Most forums have hidden or locked threads, which is what I meant by "special areas". This is where you tend to find most of the best info about nightlife... the restrictions on access are a necessary but sometimes infuriating evil. Outside of these threads it's much more PG.
