'Good music' is subjective, it depends on your taste. Most bars play loud Thai pop music but as you are with your Thai gf you may be happy with that. If so two of the more lively bars are Suky Bar & Stone Bar which are next to each other on Poonsuk Road.
If you like Rock music then El Murphys have an excellent covers band mentioned and recommended many times on this forum.

Do you want a live band or just music?
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

If you want music, and I mean really good music, go to Baan Chang in soi 9 (north) in Cha Am.
Every Sunday there's a live jam session with some quality musicians.
This music bar belongs to Mr Nissa Nyberget from Norway and his band consists of a lovely mix of international musicians. Highly recommended.
All other sorts of taped or recorded music can be found all around town.
You have to be deaf if can't find it.
But hey; you asked about good music.

I agree (for obvious reasons) that there's excellent music at Nissa's Baan Chang especially on Sunday evenings.Norseman wrote:If you want music, and I mean really good music, go to Baan Chang in soi 9 (north) in Cha Am.

Unfortunately, that style doesn't appeal much to a Thai lady. Most customers are Scandinavian with an overload of Norwegians. A few Thai ladies accompany their farangs but mostly to please them with their company, not for the sake of the music. Still, go there - it's great!
