Does anyone know the rules this weekend for drinking with the elections being on?

These small elections don't usually cause any disruptions.

My Mrs is always in the dark about such matters.. :?
But the 'official word' from the police will only be delivered 1 day before any closure is due..that is always the case it seems.. :banghead:
It's a shame because last night the 'bar area' had quite a good attendance considering we're
wallowing into Low-Season just now.. ho hum.

Does this also mean shops can't sell beer? Do I need to do a quick dash tonight?

Don't worry Pleng..ya 7/11's may have some restrictions, but every other corner-shop will serve you..

It appears that we will have a repeat of this last weekend! 23rd & 24th have more elections and the law says no alcohol sales between 6.00pm on the eve of the elections until midnight on the day. Expect the bars to be closed again.

Yes it seems that's the case.
Yesterday the bar-owners were re-opening their bars at 6.oopm..as the police 2 days earlier had said they could..then they came around and told them no,no..now you stay closed till midnight!! :tsk:
(Polling-Stations/all voting closed about 4.00pm FFS..??)
All Thais were (as usual) drinking/buying from 'corner shops', plus B/G's & Farangs were buying beer from the 7/11 in Binta and sitting on benches outside closed bars and drinking away...Where is the logic?.. (Sorry I keep forgetting, this is another reminder to tourists that Thailand does not really need/value renewed tourism & contented visitors..or their money..T.I.T.).. :banghead:
