Buddha Day(s) bars closed
I hear that the bars in the town will be closed on Monday 22nd for Dharma Buddha day and probably Tuesday also. Be prepared.

If you need a drink in a bar over the next two days just find one run by L/Bs..as we all know they're above the law in HH!

Traffic currently backed up to Soi 112 (road to Banyan GC). Time for one of those bad waether warning we get in the UK - "Only venture out of doors if your journey is absolutely necessary"!

Surprised to see that booze isn't being served in hotels on this second day.
Normally it's available on Royal birthdays etc., isn't it?

Even at Makro earlier the booze shelves had been cling filmed to prevent people taking it off the shelves. Also extra security guards making sure nobody removed the cling film

Yes, it's nice to see the average Mom and Pop shops getting a bit of assistance from the government.
No difference between today and any other day here where I am. Still seeing Thais enjoying the whiskey, and right now I'm sitting at a local shop having a beer.

Don't try to impress me with your manner of dress cos a monkey himself is a monkey no less - cold fact

We've just had a year-zero royal birthday celebration here in Blighty - the media have gone completely nuts with their coverage...Normally it's available on Royal birthdays
Has it received any attention in the LoS?
I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I shall be sober and you will still be ugly...

Funny! A sign wouldn't suffice?Big Boy wrote:Even at Makro earlier the booze shelves had been cling filmed to prevent people taking it off the shelves.
In the UK, before the booze laws changed, Tescos tills simply wouldn't allow alcohol to be checked out after 10.30pm. I suspect such a solution would not work here?
Even funnier...Big Boy wrote:Also extra security guards making sure nobody removed the cling film

Mom/pop shops were operating as normal and I hear some soi 80 bars were doing the shutter stunt. Sure many eating places were doing the plastic mug scene too

Actually, I've been in a 7-11 (who are pretty strict about enforcing the laws on off sales) at 1 min past midnight and was refused as the girl couldn't enter the sale on the till as she'd have been seen to be selling after hours with her till ID.Ricardo ShillyShally wrote:Funny! In that instance, another member of staff showed her a work around and I got my beers. I had been in the queue before midnight!!
