Not about Geronimo, but have you seen the size of the lot now that the three burnt out bars and the two next door have been taken down. I am surprised how deep it is going right back to the fence at Sara janes. Anybody hear what the plan is?

I remember how surprised I was the first time I went to Sara Jane's. It doesn't look like much from the front but when you get to the back its a whole new world. They have a huge lot with some big trees back there. It doesn't feel like you are downtown at all. The only bad part is the mosquitos can be pretty gruesome at times.

Development of Soi Bintabaht

Post by hhfarang »

Maybe the bar area is beginning to move out of downtown as has been predicted on here by various soothsayers over the last several years. Soi 80 is doing better and there are even a few "bar beers" springing up on Soi 94 from the looks of it when you drive by at night.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Just want to mention (slightly off topic) there's also a Filipino band playing in Sara Jane's garden as well as guests dancing. I'm a regular whenever in Hua Hin.

Parking may be difficult but maybe they will make Soi Bintabaht a dual carriageway.

Soi Binta is traditionally the main entry into the temple i believe. Can't see them altering that

In total, yes, but most of that is flights and hotels.

The single guy out for some fun on the town is likely to spend a hell of a lot more money away from his digs than the typical parent.

Have a look at the existing tourist orientated shops in the centre of town - at any given time, most don't have a single customer (massage and 7/11 excepted)

A shopping mall in Bintabaht would fail because it's too difficult to drive to - even if they put some parking round the back.

you dont really compare the two like that, we are talking about what they would spend in either the shop or bar or restaurant within a specified timeframe.

For example the Italian restaurant La Grappa will make much more from a family of four than a bar in exactly the same location would if it had 4 adult male customers.
You have to consider the timeframe as well, in 2 hours the family will spend between 3-5 thousand baht, 4 starters, 4 main course, drinks on top.
In two hours in a bar, maybe 90 baht a beer, 4 males might spend 400-600 each.
Yes 1-2 might go wild on ..

Utter rubbish.

Four guys in a posh restaurant spend far more than a family does.

Child portions and their glasses of water are a waste of time as far as restauranteurs are concerned, and these days many parents have a hang-up about drinking in front of the kids, so as often as not, they are on soft drinks as well.

For restaurants like La Grappa, expensive alcohol sales are a vital earner.

Yes, consider the time frame - a family go out for about an hour or so, while four guys go out for the whole evening.

The typical family of four spends less than 2000 eating out, the typical guy on the town can easily get through that on his own..
