Big Boy wrote:No, you are correct. However, unless there is a business making money out of horrific make-overs, and elderly Farangs serving as models, the 'sick' photographs published on Facebook of the victims, together with photos of burning vehicles was enough for me to believe what has been said is true. Maybe I'm just gullible.
By posting some links you could show both that you're not gullible and that you don't think we are.

OK, time to put my hands up - I don't know how to post such links. However, even if I did, I wouldn't as the photos could be distressing to family members (also, posting Facebook links by moderators is frowned upon).

I did start searching out photos to PM to you, when it dawned on me that I couldn't attach photos to PMs.

I know what I've seen/read. The only link that is shown is www.facebook.com. If you don't want to believe me, so be it - I don't think I'm going to lose any sleep. If you need evidence, maybe a visit to the OP's bar - you can determine if his wounds are real, or make up.

There's also a cry out for a Ferang counsellor on FB as a British girl who was on holiday in HH was reportedly raped last night. But these will never make any HH press so how are we supposed to post links? This is not gossip, this is well meaning people warning others to be Very careful.

Over the past few years I have noticed at our condo at holiday times an increasing number of young Thai men adorned in full tattoo adornments who think they own the place and treat all farangs with disdain. They are usually accompanied by stunning young Thai girls who seem attracted to these hoods.
It is very sad to see these visitors to HH tearing up the place and giving all young Thais a bad wrap.
From what I have seen the police seem afraid, or unwilling, to take these hoods on.
Oh yes, they have the full gambit of luxury cars which they do burn outs etc to impress the girls.

If there was only some way you could Ask an Expat how to do so...

Intentionally broken links would look like text, there would be no photos. e.g. convert domain.com into domain dot com.

Me too: The OP's unsubstantiated story.

Again from an unsubstantiated source:
Many have reported on Thai Facebook that the 65 yr old lady's condition has deteriorated and was moved into ICU four hours ago.
US, do you know any more?

usual suspect wrote:Last night the Songkran water festivities kicked off in big style around town..the largest concentration of revellers was around the Binta-block square of bars with thousands of Thais flocking in to enjoy to loud dance music, water, paste and the general feel-good atmosphere..BUT:-
By the end of the night (around 2.am) as the bar's customers were leaving, gangs of Thai youths were priming themselves to start punching Westerners..!
Small groups were scatterred at various places..all with the intention of attacking Tourists.
(At this point I may add that a friend & his Thai lady was walking thru' the streets back to their car..neither had been drinking..it was HER that ushered him along after she'd heard these youths planning to attack their next victims that were approaching).
The girls in the bar I was in all night waved goodbye to 2 elderly customers & their son, & my wife & I followed only seconds after them.
Within 20/30 meters of leaving the bar the Thais were punching the 65yr old lady in the face!! The elderly gentleman was down on the floor, & their son was beaten very badly..!!!
At this point I caught up to the scene and pushed one of the youths away from the woman...I got severly punched & kicked for my troubles, but felt the need to protect this frail lady.
The 3 of them are still hospitalised, & I will need cosmetic dental work done, but the message I'm trying to say here is

PLEASE BE ON YOUR GUARD IF VENTURING THRU' THE BAR AREA LATE THIS EVENING..THESE THUGS MAY
RETURN TONIGHT!

Not one person (other than myself) came to aid these old folk, & they ended up laid in the road bleeding..so if you're
still out in the wee hours tonight please be alert. These pockets of youths were intent on causing harm, & did blend in with all others beforehand.

(We are hoping one of the many cameras around the end of Binta will have picked up this incident..HH police are checking)
Well done for stepping in and hope you get your teeth sorted out quickly. And speedy recovery to all involved. Such a shame people feel the need to do such vile things!

Actions speak louder than words. So far, your claims and those in the OP are only words. Accepting citizen-journalist reports on the internet at face value is a great example of gullible.

Hmmm... If so many people were in the Bintabaht area at that time, how come there aren't more first hand reports? Wouldn't this be all over facebook? With videos?
I've confirmed there are Thai reports, together with photographs, sat there waiting to be read/viewed. I've not seen any videos. If you choose not to believe, so be it.

I'm outta here. Anyone who didn't notice and understand why you had to reach back for a post of mine to quote instead of quoting the most recent one isn't worth writing for. Those who do understand know why you didn't quote this one:
