El Toro Loco bar closed?

Just an anecdote: A few nights ago I was playing a friendly game of pool with one of the staff at the Soi 80 version of El Toro. I asked him about the apparent move to Soi 94. He said "yes that's right ... in about 2 weeks to open". He also said they will be closing this Soi 80 bar. (Damn! I liked this place).

However, on the motorbike last night we were going out to dinner in the Soi 94 area and we passed by the corner where the new El Toro apparently will be located. Two weeks? ... I doubt it.
The place is a bit of a wreck, grounds full of weeds, garbage and used condoms, inside totally empty as it's easy to see in, the entire front of the place is wide open.
Maybe they will get it finished in the time frame, but it'll have to be a veritable hive of intense activity to do so.
It's actually a pretty decent location ... lots of night activity in that area of Soi 94

Just one more reason why I love living in Thailand ...

I saw Cartoon outside the new Soi 94 site last week, he said the contractor doing the work told him they need between 1 and 2 more weeks to complete, so looking like July 28 to August 4.

Pardon my ignorance, but is there some reason this guy is called Cartoon, which is presumably a nickname? :?

It is one of the listed Thai nicknames and not just made up. Comes under 'Leisure Activities' as opposed to animals, food, physical appearance etc. One of my wife's family is called Cartoon! No-one in the family knows why. A nickname is usually given by a grandparent for no real reason.

Yep, I popped in on Saturday night, most of the outside tables occupied and a fair few inside.
