Not really a right is it?? but I spend a fair bit of time in that area (which isn't really binta) and haven't witnessed much trouble there, especially Thai on farang.

Did the guy say the reason why he was attacked ?

Just thinking in the 2 or 3 bars that I visit. The only Thai men I see in them apart from owners are up-scale English speaking Thai men. Not the slightest problem from them.

More than eleven years ago i had a problem with a drunk Thai man on Binta we squared up until my wife pulled me away.

One thing I will say is they never forget for many years he used to give me the hard man eyes whilst selling his somtam out of the Celtic bar.

I was told by a bar owner when I asked about him that he drank himself to death hence why he was no longer there.

Right? Seriously? How can a person have any right to break the law? Prostitution is illegal in Thailand.

 Forget the red light areas, . . . . . the vast majority of thai/farang marriages and relationships are illegal too then?

Using that reasoning, just about every marriage whether Thai/Farang or otherwise would be illegal. lol

The police will investigate and their main priority will be to ensure the CCTV recording does not get released or better still disappears.

Apparently spoke with owners of the bar and was told if he went to the police, he could never live in Hua Hin again without being hurt. He has lived here for 8 years. No investigation by police and falang fearing for his life now moved to Kho Takiab. Unbelievable!
So the attack happened on Thursday night and within less than 48 hours he has moved house, lock-stock-and-barrel, having just had the crap beaten out of him. Moreover, "fearing for his life" he has moved 2km down the road but then comes back to Soi 80; just how fearful is that?

With 8 years' experience you would think he'd have more street-smarts, or be dead already with the type of behaviour he exhibited. Yes, this is "unbelievable".

If this man has lived here for eight years, then he certainly hasnt learnt very much.

Associating with people either involved in or who inhabit the fringes of the prostitution industry is always fraught with danger thanks to their unstable personalities, and the similarly unstable personalities of the local lowlife males who hang around feeding off the scraps.

Drinking in whore bars and then getting involved in an argument, never mind who started it is a sure fire way of getting ones head kicked in.

It is the same anywhere in the world. Frankly he should consider himself lucky in getting away with only eight stitches to his head. The thug was obviously going easy on him.

To answer you, my understanding is he lived in a town house off Soi 80 and was only there to collect his belongings. He said he felt he needed to get out of central Hua Hin for a time. I find it a bit strange that most on this forum blames the falang because 'he deserved it'. From what I saw he didn't even deserve a punch. A couple having a verbal argument is no one's business unless it becomes physical

I like to turn situations around and see what the reaction would be ---- Let say you are in a pub in the UK and an English lady is being verbally abused by a foreigner, dont you think that the locals might choose to defend the lady and attacks the foreigner.

Did you do anything to help him either during the attack or after?

I haven't seen anybody claiming that 'he deserved it', you are putting words into others' posts. I think everyone agrees that violence should never be the response to even the worst type of provocative behaviour.

What is odd, to me at least, is that you know this Farang well enough to have a conversation with him and get his story but have not addressed the questions on what your part was, if any, in his defence. There is no CCTV evidence, the bar doesn't want to know and the Farang is keeping a low profile. It seems there is more to this episode than your title of "another cowardly Farang bashing in Hua Hin" and my assertion is you are being salacious for the sake of it.
