Re: History Challenge
Confetti, flashing lights, sirens!! Yes indeed, Ice. I told you it's hard to believe, but it's true. From the early 1800's up until sometime after the Civil War ice was second only to cotton as America's major export product. Story at link and again, it was all on History Channel over the weekend. The 130 day India route he only lost 1/3 per voyage. Proper stacking and the amazing insulating properties of sawdust was the secret. Pete

Re: History Challenge
I have many names from many eras.
No one knows my true origins or my exact age, but I have reached at least one millennium and possibly two.
Some believe I am where Jake once rested his head.
I was lost, stolen and broken during the last century before mysteriously reappearing shortly before the last time I was used.
One of the thieves was an English Scottish nationalist, a descendant of another more famous Englishman, who stole me 700 years ago…

Re: History Challenge
By coincidence there was a programme on TV this afternoon about this, there is a replica of the stone (pronounced skoon) outside a palace in Pertshire. The original is in Edinburgh Castle but is brought to London for coronations.
