Hi folks, I visit Hua Hin 3-4 times a year and am trying to get a feel for the social golf scene.
Not really interested in the tour operators but more what the local expats do.
Do you local golfers play out of a pub on regular days?
What do you pay for transport and a round?
Is it best to join the local equivalent of say the Pattaya Sports Club to get cheaper rates?
Which courses offer discounts on what days?
Are there regular tournaments?
And yes I just looked at the new gtaasia board.
Any info appreciated.

Ditto above. Bernie's is a good start. The society play every Tuesday and Friday at selected courses around the area - say within 30 mins drive - a couple of other "away day" venues including Ratchaburi, Dragon hills etc. Good laugh. Day out from HH on a coach with plenty of beer!!
You'll need to check with Bernie as to the requirements of joining. There is certainly a minimum amount of time you have to live in HH to benefit from the discounted green fees. Naturally, the courses would get a little peeved if visitors/tourists were getting the advantageous rates.
It's a while since I played with the society, but to the best of my knowledge, you could expect 2,000 - 2,300 Baht to cover green fees, transport, caddie fees, tip and a few beers. Less if you're a member. Could have gone up, but that's a rough ball park figure.
