The Hua Hin Municipality has in majority voted and granted B-Concept Media Entertainment Group’s Passion4Share division to manage, promote and execute the Hua Hin Jazz Festival in Thailand. The next edition of the Jazz Festival will take place between 20-22 June 2014. The exact dates have yet to be officially confirmed by the organizer.

The Hua Hin Jazz Festival is a legacy under the current Thailand organized based jazz festivals. In the Kingdom of Thailand’s Jazz scene, the Hua Hin Jazz Festival is probably the most recognized and established jazz festival, attracting more than 15,000 locals and travelers to Hua Hin. The first Jazz festival was originated by the Hua Hin hotels, who took the lead to organize the Jazz Festival on the beach of Hua Hin, with the aim to attract more travelers.

A broader international and local jazz line-up will be presented for the next edition and confirmed closer to the festival date. Festival communication will be improved. Environmental issues will be addressed, international production standards will be implemented. Stronger partnerships will be developed that sustain The Hua Hin Jazz Festival for the future.

How many stages will be set up cannot be confirmed yet. With a majority of votes last Thursday, the committee felt that Hua Hin Jazz Festival deserves more atten tion and grow the festival with more partners involved.

I spotted an advert for a Jazz festival that seems to be on the 10th of May, I don't know if that is the actual Hua Hin Jazz Festival or another event.

That’s the Hua Hin Asia Jazz Festival
Jazz musicians from universities across ASEAN countries will be competing in a competition on May 10th. The Event will be on the beach in front of the Centara Grand Hotel.

That probably explains why there were people there this morning measuring the beach up in front of the Centara. Wondered what they were doing.

Looks like the "official" and original Hua Hin Jazz Festival 2014 has had the financial plug pulled on it. The website is down and the following statement was issued yesterday on their facebook page

.........The political situation in Thailand declined sponsor confidence and marketing budget to support Huahin Jazz Festival and resulted in low production budget. As quality is our highest standard Passion4Share has decided not to continue, align or participate in the 2014 festival. We felt that we cannot deliver the quality our brand stands for. A Thai local organizer organizes the festival this year but without our company's participation.

What a shame. Was looking forward to it.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is lending support to the local authorities in Hua Hin and Ignite Asia Co., Ltd. who are jointly staging the Hua Hin Asia Jazz, another international jazz music event to taking place on the popular Hua Hin Beach, in the province of Prachuap Khiri Khan, on Saturday, 10 May, 2014.

The biggest names in jazz have confirmed to come to the event to showcase their skills. Local jazz fans and international visitors will be able to enjoy their favourite musicians and singers live on stage while Thai jazz musicians get the chance to show their talents to a large and appreciative new audience.

International names on the programme include The Dan Phillips Quartet from the USA, Richard Jackson, Yuki Makita, Mailow Motif from Singapore, Fried Pride from Japan and Banana Grooves from Lao PDR. Thai jazz artists who will be playing include Koh Mr. Saxman, Pui Duangporn, famous from her appearance on The Voice, and the Vie Trio jazz band.

Mr. Thawatchai Arunyik, TAT Governor said, “The event has the full support of TAT, as we know that it will help to build a good image and confidence in Thailand as a tourist destination, and in line with our campaign Amazing Thailand: It Begins with the People… to promote the kingdom to both local and international tourists."

The bands will take to the stage on Hua Hin Beach in front of the Centara Grand Beach Resort & Villas Hua Hin from 18.00 hrs. onwards. The event is free but jazz lovers are advised to arrive early to get the best views.

The TAT Governor said, “The nostalgic yesteryear atmosphere of Hua Hin, coupled with modern tourism facilities can be found just a couple of hours drive from Bangkok. This makes the Hua Hin Asia Jazz event perfect for local and international travellers, but especially for true jazz lovers who get the chance to see their favourite musicians play in a beachside setting.”

The seaside town of Hua Hin is around 220 kilometres from Bangkok. The once sleepy fishing port has long been a popular weekend getaway for people living in Bangkok but is now well-known internationally and boasts a wide range of accommodation: from five-star luxury hotel brands to boutique residents and simple guesthouses. The area also offers a great many attractions and activities to enjoy, ideal for anyone seeking a casual break.

2Dan, that statement doesn't say the festival is not happening, it states that Passion4share is not involved in the production/marketing/organising etc but it is being organised by a local Thai outfit.

I had a walk on the beach up to the Sofitel just after 5pm tonight and there wasn't much activity. Just one army lorry laying a wooden road/walkway on the beach from the Sofitel. I am sure the stage and lighting rig etc will take more than one day to erect then there's all the seating, refreshment outlets, stalls etc.

If I get a chance I will walk up there tomorrow to see if there is any progress.

Just had a walk on the beach again at around 5pm and the stage is erected and they were doing sound and light checks. I am sure the stage is smaller and lower than previous as I seem to remember a big screen at the rear of the stage last year but I may be mistaken. This stage is not tall enough for a big screen as the roof is very low.

Absolutely nothing else there so I presume tomorrow daytime will be bringing in the seating, drinks, food stalls etc.

I was up there again until about 4 pm today and the stage is as big as previous as they have lifted the roof higher on it's stanchions. However, there is literally nothing else. One small VIP are with about 20 seats. A few stalls set up, one had a few hundred bottles of water and a few hundred cans of Singha. No Chang tents as previous and with only a couple of hours to go the logistics of getting a few thousand cans/bottles of beer down there and kept cold must be nigh on impossible but with Thai ingenuity for making a few Baht you never know. If you are thinking of going I would prepare a few very chilled bottles to take with.
