While awaiting more specific replies, take a look at our "Birds of Thailand" thread. You may also want to contact Mermaid Cruises ( http://www.huahinmedia.com/huahin-cruises.php ) as I'm sure some of their river trips spot a good variety of birds. Pete

Just go to Sam Roi Yot Marine National Park, 60 km away to the south from Hua Hin. This is one of the best area in Thailand to observe shorebirds. By the way now is an especially good time for a bird watching cause of migration to there birds from Siberia etc.

I will second this. I took a trip on the Kingfisher a few weeks ago

I'm definitely not a bird watcher, but the variety of birds that we saw was incredible. As I wrote in my report, these are birds I'd only ever seen on Brook Bond Tea Cards before. The Kingfisher is designed specifically for this task, and it's quiet electric motor doesn't bother the wildlife at all.

You will probably encounter more birds this way than any other, and it's a fantastic day out as well.

Springfield Golf club is a member of the Audubon Society and have large areas within the course designated as wildlife protection areas. I've seen a number of birds there that I've not see anywhere else.

I'm not sure if you can just go there bird watching or if you have to play golf, fortunately my golfing skills allow me to spend a lot of time off the fairways and close to the sanctuary areas.

You can get details of that cruise on their website http://huahincruises.com/river/ecoriver-cruise.php .

I would suggest using their contact sheet on their website to discuss with them. If you talk, they may be able to tailor the day more precisely to your needs.

As I said, I'm not a bird watcher, but I was well impressed with the birds I saw.

Coincidentally, looking for something else, I just read this Kang Krajan National Park review, which might also interest you. http://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/As ... G-C-3.html
