UHT Vana Nava Hua Hin City FC 2015

Post by Big Boy »

It was announced today that the new manager will not be Thai, but a foreigner with the experience to lead the team into Div 1 next season.

His name will be announced next year.

For anybody that is interested, Prachuab finished as last season's overall champions, with Thai Honda in 2nd place.

Wow! Talk about a statement of intent! Just read the full statement from yesterday. As you say BB, it will be a foreign manager and coaching staff. He also says they will be bringing in foreign players, of grade A quality, the level of which has never been seen in the league before.

He states very strongly, the plan is to gain promotion to Div.1 without fail. The mess we made this season is very regrettable but next season will see big changes to the plan and direction of the club and failure is not an option.

Sounds like exciting times ahead next season, they're really going to push the (sail)boat out by the sounds of it!

Yes, I'm not a great fan of buying success, but I guess I can make an exception

Just one query, with the foreign players, aren't they limited regarding how many non-Thais they can field at any time? We often fielded 4 (Shota, Lampty, Stephens and Owusu) last season. I personally think the first 3 would be hard to replace, and certainly good enough to succeed. So would more foreign players really help?

Yes, I had always thought it was 3, and was surprised recently when I learnt that Shota is Japanese.

I guess it must be at least 4 then, if there is a limit(I've still not found out)

Owusu won't be featuring due to his ban anyway. I guess that would free up a space if need be.

Obviously the concerns over finance (with the Chairman being banned) were unfounded then.....

not at all - it's the Prachuab Chairman that has been banned.

I've just found this on Wikepedia referring to the Thai Premier League:
Foreign players

The number of foreign players is restricted to seven per TPL team, but only five of them can be on the game sheet in each game. A team can use four foreign players on the field in each game, including at least one player from the AFC country.

From what you are all saying, I am now a lot more confident for next season. Although the players we had last season nearly got us there, I always felt there was something missing for me. I know I made comparisons to "my other teams" but it was only because I felt we could and should have done better. Obviously, the powers that be have the same vision as I do, and fair play to them for putting their money where their mouths are. Last season the manager had as much faith in the substitutes as I did in him, and although our midfield players worked tirelessly we were outmuscled and outplayed in the latter stages of most of the games. Owusu will not be missed but we do need someone with stature and more commanding in the middle of the field. We obviously have big plans and that has to be welcomed by all the Hua Hin supporters. We are a small club with a big potential. I cannot wait for next season. As for Prachuab, good riddance to them, and it is going to be a long time before we see them again. We are on the way up. We are Hua Hin, we cheer Hua Hin!!!
