Probably a stupid question  , but what game are you playing please? I counted varying numbers of players in the various photos, but didn't get to 11 in any of them. If not 11 a side, what sized pitch are you using?

Apologies if I've missed the answer in an earlier post.

[Edit] Is it like junior rugby, where it doesn't get to 15 a side until the kids get older (about 14yo from memory)?

Hi BB. Thanks for your interest and can't remember if we have ever mentioned it before. Anyway, if we have, it's still worth repeating that it's 7-a-side for the league games and most friendly matches.
We have three 7-a-side pitches as follows:
Pitch 1 (Under 13s and Under 16s): 65 metres x 45 metres (goal size is 5.5 metres x 2.5 metres)
Pitch 2 (Under 9s and Under 11s): 65 metres x 45 metres (goal size is 4.5 metres x 2 metres)
Pitch 3 (Under 7s and Under 8s): 45 metres x 30 metres (goal size is 4 metres x 2 metres)

Then we have one set of full size goals which are used occasionally in training or for occasional friendlies arranged by the academy or hotel (in which case we play 11-a-side across pitches 1 and 2 and the pitch size is 100 metres x 65 metres)

For the free 'Kiddy Footy' Under 5 football and occasional 3 x 3 matches we have one more small pitch, but two sets of goals available which are about 2 metres x 1 metre.

The girls and Soccer Mums teams usually play on pitch 2 or 3. The Soccer Dads on pitch 1, but this is flexible according to schedules. Excluding the under 5s (free programme) we are approaching our target of 100 players now (last registered player got no. 95 shirt). Though it would be nice to keep accepting players just for the money, we won't as our six coaches (one for U7s & U8s; one for U9s & U11s; one for U13s & U16s; one for goalkeepers, one for the girls & mums teams; one for the Under 5s) are all dedicated to providing 'quality over quantity'. At the end of the year, we'll take stock and look at the budgets etc, to see how to keep supporting the local kids in a positive way.

Nicely grassed and flat pitches, with good facilities, especially now we have the three large tents up permanently to provide welcome shade. A few more plans in the pipeline, but patience is a virtue and it's one step at a time.

The hotel are being most supportive to keep the costs affordable and all is going and growing very well. Everyone seems happy and a good family atmosphere is growing as the parents get to use all the hotel's sports and fitness facilities (except the swimming pools) whenever they want and for just Baht1,080/month as well as getting a discount care for wining & dining at the hotel's restaurants.

Well done William!
William MVP.jpg
Dusit Thani Hua Hin Football Academy's 7-year-old William Harris enjoyed a great weekend as his Somtawin school team won the Kids Cup for 16 local Under-7 school teams at Market Village. Not only did his triumph but William deservedly, I'm told, picked up the Player of the Tournament (Most Valuable Player) award. Onwards and upwards, hopefully to even greater successes in the future.

Benjamin's Story: Chapter 1
It started when our coach, ex-professional Steve, introduced his former agent, Patrick de Koster, to the academy earlier this year:
Benjamin's Story Patrick and Coach Steve.jpg
Patrick is agent for Manchester City's new 50-million-pound man Kevin de Bruyne

When visiting the academy, he was impressed with what he saw:
https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... 928&type=3

Before leaving, Patrick made a pledge in the form of a 3-year contract (posted on here at the time) to support the growth of the academy and offer footballing opportunities in Europe to the academy players during that time. One of the first to catch his eye was 12-year-old Benjamin:
Benjamin's Stor 2 with Partick de Koster.jpg

As a registered FIFA agent, there are a lot of legalities to be overcome to take a player to Europe, but last night Benjamin stepped on a plane bound for...?????? Hopefully the first of many Dusit Thani Hua Hin Football Academy players to be making a similar journey.

At midnight tonight (Thai time), Benjamin will have his first training session with his new academy teammates, just before the first team play a home Champions League match in the stadium.
Benjamin's Story 4 The home dressing room awaits.jpg
Where is Benjamin heading?

To be continued...the story's only just begun
