Walking inside the Palace grounds

So what is going on around here and where does it happen? This section is for discussion on local events, festivals, and holidays as well as activities and things to do.

Walking inside the Palace grounds

Post by robcar »

My normal morning exercise walk takes me along Petchkasem Road Hua Hin, northbound and past the Palace grounds to Soi 35 and then back southbound for a few kilometres. I often see joggers running around the lake and thought I would like to include it as part of my walk.

Called at what I think is a checkpoint for site workers and manned by army personnel just inside an entrance off Petchkasem (just south of Soi 35) and tried to find out what I need to do to get to walk in the grounds and around the lake.
Unfortunately my English and their Thai didn't seem to get me anywhere so I am hoping that someone out there can give me some idea on what/who/where I need to do to get permission be allowed in.
They certainly weren't going to let me in this morning

PM's would be appreciated if anyone can help

Regards Rob

Further information on my earlier post.........

I did a search on here and found an old thread but can't find it again now, I think it must be an age thing ;-)

There is apparently an entrance in Soi 35 where you can enter by showing ID (Passport/Driving License). Visitors are allowed to run/walk around the lake between 0530 and 0730 and also 1730 and 1930. Proper T-Shirt is required, no sleeveless vests allowed.

If anyone can offer any more info it will be very much appreciated :-)

The info above is pretty much spot on, other things to note no phones/iPods/MP3's etc allowed. Ladies have to cover legs, men can wear shorts

Yes Homer, wife was there yesterday and still the same rules apply.
