Opening of Ratchapakdi Park

Yorkminster has about 16 to 18 statues of English kings all next to each other. Mt. Rushmore (not a city) has four presidents heads all next to each other, Notre Dame has half a dozen statues of Kings (not French but from biblical contexts), Cologne Cathedral; you might be right, they might be biblical sculptures but for sure Hohenzollen bridge has four statues of Kings/Kaisers, NyiPyiTaw Kings Park is a park with three Myanmar Kings, The Tirana monuments are Illyrian Kings & Queens.

I see very little difference between these and the Thai Kings Park, they are all just a reminder of a countries history.

I consider this huge statue park as a show for Thais, for a permanent brainwashing. Those kings are already standing in main squares of various Thai cities, so why put them together in a.... yes kind of Disneyland.

Nope I still don't see any relation between a small land mass featuring statues of past leaders and theme park featuring giant mice walking around.

Can anybody tell me where in the world you can find a park with the statues of past kings or presidents ?
Some of you might like this display, but it's not praiseworthy and doesn't deserve so many comments on this site.

I don't see this site giving the opening of this park any more coverage than it does to, say, a new restaurant opening. And I certainly haven't seen anybody coverage that would suggest anybody believes it to be "praiseworthy".

I personally don't have any real feelings about it one way or the other. I will probably pop in to see it when I go past, if it's not raining. I was simply interested in how you come to compare it to Disney Land. And you haven't really provided any justification other than "it's a bunch of statues of past kings all in one place so it's like Disney Land"... which doesn't really make any sense

A brainwashing show with patriotic comments. You can see elephant fighting in Surin or in Phuket, Pattaya.
A show park.... not so much amusing as Disneyland.

The only conclusion I can come to concerning 'europtimiste' is that he has been forced out of his own country by peer pressure and padlocked to an uncomfortable Thai chair in front of a computer, being fed exclusively on rice and Lao Khao, and regularly pelted with over-ripe durian.

This may not be the case of course, but if not, it's certainly worth considering!

It sounds like a giant car park , with some impressive Statues of former Kings ....and acres apon acres of grass land of which people / children are not even supposed to walk/play on.

I'm sure the departed kings apreciate it

but it would be nice to have a park built for people still currently alive in HH

Its a shame as it should of been so much more , considering the money spent on it

The wait for a proper park for the people in HH goes on...

A proper park with cut grass, flower beds, places for kids to play, soccer field, lake with ducks/swans, cycle track etc. would be a great place to take the kids at weekends, but this is not the Thai way, one cannot go outside in the sun.

That sounds like the kind of place they should build , there are plenty of other cities in Thailand that have these facilities.
I was in Sri Racha recently and they have a really nice park , despite it being a relativity small city.
