Soi 88 Water Park - with photos

Post by Big Boy »

Not sure if it's a wind up, but I've seen photos posted elsewhere of a newly opened Soi 88 Water Park. Anybody know any more?

There is an area on the right (going away from town) where it has looked for a while that they've been putting in a swimming pool.

If it's true, it looks as though its aimed mainly at kids, and the cost is reported at a very reasonable 50 Baht/hour.

Can anybody confirm? I would guess parking will be a significant problem if it is real.

I've got to go that way later today, so I guess I'll see for myself. If it's not a wind up, and I can park the car, I'll stop and snap a few photos.

I seen the water park last week. It's not very big, but looks like it would be good for young kids.

Not much to it, one big swimming pool and one big inflatable with slides down to the water at the bottom. Small food court. I took some photos on the opening day as I was passing, it was being blessed by the monks.
To access it take the small road between the 2 soi 88's that has the hardware store on the left corner and the small market on the right, turn left on to Soi 88 and it's about 20 or 30 metres up on the right.

Not too much too it, but it sounds brilliant for younger kids. Yes, we've got a couple of quality 'big kid' water parks here now, but I've heard stories of kids being upset, when not allowed ride some attractions. This sounds an ideal place for kids to get used to water park philosophy.

We actually passed something similar on the way to a Hua Hin City match on the outskirts of Bangkok. That was made up of inflatables and water - looked very good fun, and was very well supported. If the 50 Baht/hour is correct, maybe somebody has hit on a great business idea, where there is actually a gap in the Hua Hin market. How long before another opens next door :banghead:

I'm intrigued now - definitely going to have a look in a minute.

Well, I went, and it's definitely there. Unfortunately, it doesn't open until 11, so it wasn't inflated :banghead: . Will go past again on the way home.

Can confirm 50 Baht/hour for kids. 80 Baht/hour for adults. I know Thailand people are short, but adults are defined as over 1 Metre tall :?

Don't mean to be a party pooper but do they have proper filtration? I remember a few years ago in our previous home city a similar style pool/water park for kids opened and many became sick after a few weeks because the water wasn't being maintained to swimming pool standards.

It's the first that that came to my mind.

I won't be sending my little one there for sure.

I've no idea about filtration systems at Hua Hin Water Park. Neither do I know about the systems at Vana Nava nor Black Mountain either. Rather than deprive your kids what looks to be a lot fun, why not ask at the park?

Anyway, I've taken a couple of photos as promised:

The main pool seems to have some form of filtration equipment, although couldn't see anything (and doubt they have anything) on the inflatable. But like all pools, they need human intervention to check/add/adjust or a regular basis.

Exactly, I used to take frequent dips in the river Trent as a kid and it never killed me and that definitely didn't have a filtration system!

If that fillet steak is as tasty as it looks on the menus, worth a visit IMHO.
It looks to me to cater more for the younger kids and my son (5) would love it.

Would be more worried about a pool full of pee to be honest.

I think it was BB asking why I'd deprive my kid from fun. It don't want to deprive him from his health.

It may be wrong to assume but after a decade plus here I'd be willing to wager a guess that hygine is not top of the priorities list at this place.

Yes, it was me asking. I am asking because I haven't heard you suggest that Vana Nava, Black Mountain etc might have a problem. Assuming your kid is big enough would you take him there? Do you know their systems are any better?

My kid isnt old enough to go to either of the bigger waterparks, he's only 2 & half, although I'd feel more confident that they are built on sufficient investment, which indicates to me atleast that they consider sustainable business practices such as hygine.

Maybe more info will come on this subject.
