Bird Watching, Squid Fishing and Eat Shellfish Fest

Post by Big Boy »

Sorry guys, I've missed the start of this one, but still plenty of time left.

This annual festival, now in it's 18th year is currently taking place in Cha-Am and runs until 17th September. Plenty to see, do and eat. Live entertainment on the beach every evening.

Do you see any sea birds this time if year. It's always fascinated me the lack of sea birds on this part of the coast.

I've just been reading the publicity http://www.tiewpakklang.com/news/phetchaburi/22917/ , and I think it says 2 free buses leave each morning at 7 and each afternoon at 4 to go bird spotting.

Kendo - it's simple there's no fish (or very few) for them to eat. No fish = no birds.

Laying on the beach at Had Sai Noi this afternoon (no, Greenpeace didn't turn up with their save the whale campaign) and I was watching cormorants diving off the rocks. There must have been something there to keep them interested.

After that we moved to the temple at Khao Tao. There were no sea birds to be seen, but literally hundreds (maybe thousands) of fish, They weren't the size of Terry's fish, but many were dinner plate size - all shapes and sizes. I watched them for quite a while whilst waiting for our friends to complete their walk from Had Sai Noi.

The sea was very calm today, and visibility was excellent.

I did think about that, but not sure if it would be acceptable or proper to fish from the temple wall.
