Hua Hin City 13 - 2 Chiva Som

It might only have been 12 - 2, but that was a lot of goals to keep track of. A good day at the office, with multiple players trying out in preparation for the opening of the transfer window on 1st June.

Hua Hin City 2 – 1 Pathum Thani

Relegation battles are never pretty to watch, and this was no exception. However, Hua Hin dug deep, and took away 3 valuable points from this relegation struggle. We were without Ali G and Pongpat at the start – 2 very influential players this season.

The first 15 minutes was a game with goalless draw written all over it. Eventually, Hua Hin took command, and Jirasuk sealed the dominance with a wonder goal. We’ll never know if it was an intended shot, and should be a contender for goal of the season, or whether it was a badly hit cross. We know what Jirasuk will claim though  . At the end of the day, who cares? We’ve had our share of bad luck/referees this season. If lady luck has decided to give us a cheeky smile, let's accept it with open arms.

Pathum Thani did not even threaten Wichan’s goal in the first half. All of the chances fell to Hua Hin.

Pathum came out after the break determined to make a game of it until Ali G made an appearance in about the 60th minute. Ali G made many menacing runs, and was eventually rewarded with a headed goal.

2 goals down, Pathum Thani were gifted a VERY soft goal from nothing. There was no danger, but the Hua Hin team, including Wichan seemed to step aside and gave the visitors a free shot on goal, which they gratefully took. Game on.

The visitors could smell their 2nd point of the season, and went for goal. However, they left themselves wide open at the back. Unfortunately, Hua Hin missed chance after chance on the counter attack because they suddenly thought they were better than a team at the bottom of t4. Instead of scoring the simple tap in, they went for the spectacular, which they weren’t good enough to execute – very disappointing. We were pleased to hear that final whistle, and 3 points.

Hua Hin have now opened up an 8 point gap at the bottom, but more importantly, with just 1 week to the transfer window are just 18 points behind a Champions League place, with 42 points still to play for.

Ratchaburi B 1 - 2 Hua Hin City

It was derby day, and Hua Hin travelled in numbers giving them their best away attendance for 2 years. The weather was atrocious, and the pitch would have been deemed unplayable in the UK. Hua Hin were riding high after last week's victory.

Actually the pitch, which was more akin to to water polo suited Hua Hin's style of play, and Hua Hin were in control for the best part of the game. Short sharp passing seemed the only way to retain possession on Lake Ratchaburi.

Despite being the better side, Hua Hin went behind to a brilliant individual goal about halfway through the first half. However, the better team won through with excellent goals by Worrapat and Panupong.

There was one incident early in the 2nd half, which left a sour taste - in an incident from nothing, Ratchapark lost head head, and players from both sides had to restrain him. Then in an action, which Thai referees seem to excel in, the referee called Kritsada over and presented him with a red card. Ratchapark presented his head on a platter to the ref, whilst trying to explain the ref had made a mistake, but this is Thailand, where loss of face mustn't happen - Kritsada had an early shower.

With just 10 men on the field, Hua Hin held on well to secure their 2nd win in a row, and have now caught the trailing pack.

We are now into the mid-season break, so the next game is not for almost 3 weeks. The transfer window opens in 3 days time, and we're expecting a lot of activity.

Hua Hin City 3 - 5 Samut Songkhram

I don't think the score really matters in this match. The object is to identify which of the 30+ players on display today will become the playing squad for the remainder of this season. Most of the old team have returned to their studies at university, and the new management are putting together a side to compete in t4, now they have gone - a thankless task is very short time.

In Dorian Treport, Hua Hin have a class footballer on which to build a team around. Dorian joins us from France, and was still on a flight 24 hours earlier. He only played for 30 minutes, but impressed, and even scored our opening goal.

Unfortunately, Hua Hin fielded 3 different squads across 3 x 30 minute halves???. There was a mix of good and not so good players in each segment, and, of course, it was hard to tell whether the better players were being dragged down through bad service from the not so good players,

The fact is, I could see a team that is capable of competing in t4 and above. We just have to hope the management choose the best players,

The trials continue today at the Samorprong Training Ground with Hua Hin newcomers taking on Hua Hin u.19s. I've seen the u.19s play, and there is some exceptional talent in their squad. I believe they too will be playing for a place in the final first team squad. So even though it's a 'friendly', there's a lot at stake today.
