I saw the photos of the two empty ponds on FB, Terry. What are they, new ponds or renovating?

Also, I don't think I ever asked if you have to feed the fish you have, or if there is enough natural food in there for them to thrive? Pete

No Pete these photos were taken 12-13 years ago when we first dug out the ponds

As I think I have said before - no we do not feed the fish as a rule.

They feed on the weed growth on the bottom, the water snails etc that this supports, the pond life around the margins (freshwater, shrimp, prawn and crab), the fry of the breeding Pla Nin, Pla Duk and Pla Tapien, some recently added floating weed beds + what my customers throw at them............ 8)

And that's a lot. I reckon in a day at the lodge, I alone get through 6 buckets of ground bait, and 2 loaves of bread.

Thanks for the photos by the way.

Anyways

Covered walkways-done, pool room with table-done, addition ladies loo built together with two shower rooms and the laundry room. More covered parking for the resident guests and a fair few number of additional fish. 8)
That's without the insurances, school fees and some additional maintenance here and there.

It's cost a small fortune and I'm now skint..............

We're now ready for the next 'high season' ........assuming the tourists return. :violin:

I must say that the advanced bookings are looking reasonable, considering coups, ebola, typhoons etc

So - BRING IT ON :sun: :sun:

You can sleep soundly in your bed tonight Terry with the knowledge that your fish have been well fed and exercised today.

I've just had my best ever day at the lodge, with a full 9 hour session at 3 fish per hour for me, and 2 fish per hour for Kenny. We both lost as many as we caught as well - your fish were on excellent form today.

Both Kenny and I had Giant Siamese Carp in excess of 20 Kg (estimated by your bait man); in fact it took 2 of us to lift Kenny's biggest out. I had 3 x 10 Kg+ Giant Siamese Carp + 2 of the smaller variety. Kenny had a fantastic day with 5 @ 15 Kg+, and 4 of the smaller variety.

The rest were made up of various sized striped catfish. However, it could have been worse - this was my first recent visit where I didn't catch a smelly sock Indian Carp. Very unusually, only the 2 varieties were caught in the top pond today. I did see Arapaima and Pacu caught in the lower pond.

We didn't have our usual bait boy today, but his stand in was very attentive, and didn't let us down at all.

A first class performance by fish and staff today - thank you.

A question for Terry. After you'd left us this morning to do some 'work', one of my friends caught this tiddler. First one of these I can remember seeing, and your guys didn't know what it was - one suggested Gar?

Do you know, or is it an interloper?

Hi BB

What do you mean 'work' - it was bloody work.......... :banghead:

Anyways - After much brain rattling I think that it is a Catla Carp

We put ONE in about 9 months ago - but NOT this one - so it IS an interloper probably put in by our supplier when delivering the 90 or so Pla Ka earlier this year

Pronunciation by my baitman..........Pla Gar - Pla Ka ......hence the confusion

Anyways - your buddies had a great time with several good 20+Kg Siamese Carp and some copious beer

Thanks for the photo - which will go on to the new website, currently under construction

Cheers

I've e-mailed you the original photo, which will be better resolution for your website.

I'm glad they caught a few whoppers - I'd really 'bigged' your place up. I was worried the fish might be revolting. Even when they were only catching tiddlers (still bigger than anything they'd caught before), they were enjoying it :D
