Due to a minor mishap on Hua Hin Beach yesterday evening, I was unable to participate today.

Not the most productive days fishing today that we've ever had at the lodge, but some nice specimens all the same.

In the first photo is a friend with a nice sized Giant Siamese Carp

In the second photo is my son with his first ever Giant Mekong Catfish (something I've never caught)

Here's a short video of the Giant Mekong coming in;

I thought that John did very well with that Mekong - he did not lose it - unlike some folk I know.......... :wink:

It is really strange though.

We have approx 20 Giant Mekongs in the Top pond (between 12 and 25Kg) and around 25 in the bottom pond (between 25 and 62 Kg). For a long time we have only been catching them at the rate of about one every 2 weeks.

Suddenly over the last 6 weeks or so, we have been catching them almost every other day - indeed a customer had 2 in one day, a week or so back.

I'm a bit baffled :roll:

Baffled or not, it's great sport. I don't think I'll hear the last of him getting one up on the old man :D

Bob has stayed and fished with us several times in the past and is always looking for a new species to his list. He's been with us for a couple of days already and has had plenty of Siamese Carp, Pacu an Arapaima etc. Today however, we crossed one off his species list when the Lodge produced this lovely 12 kg Jullien's Golden Carp. Well done again Bob - these Carp are some of our most prized possessions, being a Critically Endangered Species in the wild.

Highly topical Pete.

We're looking to recruit two more dogs at the Lodge right now - but - as much as I love retrievers, this guy would not be tolerated.

Interesting video though.

^ I understand. He doesn't look like a catch and release kind of pup anyway. What the video didn't show was probably a fight to the death to get his snack away from him! :shock: :D Pete :cheers:
