possible schools

Post by stargazer23 »

Hello all. I am moving to Hua Hin later in the year from the UK and am coming in April with a view to having a look at a/some possible schools for my 6 year old son. I have family in Hua Hin. I have read through some older posts about schools and just wondered if anyone has any advise to give me. My family are very negative about the school situation. My son is in a very small private school in the UK which is not mainstream and whilst home schooling is an option, I'd rather not. My son has a very inquisative mind, loves the outdoors and sport. Thank you for any help you can give.

Hello. I just posted a bit of information on the school that I run here. For the last four years, we've been running a small, intimate school for 10 kids based on alternative school models, with Montessori, Waldorf and Summerhill influences. I'd be happy to email you our statement of philosophy. We focus on inquiry as a teaching style: asking questions and encouraging kids to think for themselves. We do a lot of physical activity, developing creativity and curiosity and confidence. We do formally teach English, Thai and maths, although the kids seldom know that they're learning because they're having so much fun with the activities. When they've been allowed to play and explore to their heart's content, they get interested in studying more formally when they're about 9 or 10. I'm interested to know a little bit more about your son. Can he read? How well can he write? Did he just finish kindergarten or first grade?

Padma: I'm interested to learn more about your school. I can't find the post you refer to here. Where is the school? What curriculum do you follow? How much does it cost? What's the term schedule?

Hi Jessica77110 - This is not an appropriate place for me to post about the school that I run. If you are interested to learn more, you could click the PM "button" and send me a private message and I would be happy to answer any questions you have and discuss your personal situation with your kid(s).

Hi Gasman2 - Sorry to hear that you feel the situation is impossible. How old are your kids? I have 100% satisfied customers who feel pleased with the high level of attention and quality care their kids are receiving. All of the parents are happy to talk to prospective parents too. I can send you a reference list of local parents if you'd like...?

Best of luck, and please don't hesitate to contact me to see if I can help you. Padma

I would also be very interested to hear more about your school via pm. How big is your campus? What qualifications do students achieve after completion of exams? What resources are used in your school? What physical education program do you run at your school? What nutrition specialists run your canteen and from what company are they sourced from? What field trips and scout camps do the students attend annually and may I see some photos of your last outing with the students? Singing, dancing, music and other specialist subjects are extremely important in building childrens creativity and imagination, what programs do you run for these areas? What kind of performances do the children show for special days (ie christmas nativity)?

Thanks in advance.

Hello, hello, hello

Anybody there or........... perhaps the questions I put on the table can't be answered as the 'school' does not cater for normal school functions.

As the owner of a private school Padma has been advised against breaking our terms and conditions by self promoting it on this forum - should she wish to market it professionally all of the info will be forthcoming.

Just to clarify we do consider there to be a difference in self promotion as the owner and recommendation as a parent or teacher which is why some of our decisions may seem selective - they are not.

This thread is now locked as we have multiple schools threads already running.
