Good points Sandman but when students watch a movie with subtitles they don't listen to the target language.

I advocate that subtitles are switched off and that students listen to the target language.

They will also, whilst doing this, notice body language and facial expressions which are an integral part of communication.

Yeah and if they watch any of the crap on PSI with 280 channels they will be lucky to get anything other than in Thai (including English/French/Chinese/Japanese/Korean films). The LOS is going to shit. Their ignorance and nationalistic/jingoistic attitudes to ANY other language will be their downfall and Cambodia, Vietnam, and Burma will be the benefactors of being able to rise to the challenge of a modern world, IMO.
