It's not always Thais who do stupid things when driving. What this joker did was go right instead of left around the roundabout and smashed directly into a baht bus going around the proper way from the opposite direction and onto Beach Road. As there was a fatality, his life is now over as he knew it. I imagine there could be an argument that he had a mind lapse back to right side driving as they do in Canada especially if he's only been here a short time. However, I'll go with the 'drunk on his arse' conclusion and simply trying to be cool and cheat. The below link has some detailed photos. Pete

Yes, I agree. This one was unusual though for a foreigner. Maybe a few times a year one of them kills others in an auto accident there, rather than themselves running into a pole dead drunk. The headlines are usually about Thais running into Thais as the current sub-stories on that web site shows. That happens many times daily, especially late night. Sad story all round, especially those unsuspecting passengers going home at 0400 hours, probably in a complete relaxed state of mind until....... WHAM! Pete

Just seen photos on the Pattaya news link...the guy looks a bit like Bruce Springsteen.
The time I wince the most is when 3-4 Farang lads, in flip-flops,shorts, & no shirts all leave the m/cycle
rental place at the end of BB (next to temple archway)...helmets in the basket or wobbling loosely on their heads, 1-2-3 & a fist full of ego sees them all scream down Poolsuk...I just shake my head...ya just know
its gonna end in tears before sunset..
