Car Parking at Hua Hin Restaurants

Post by hhfarang »

The biggest and really only problem with Mayas, as usual in this city, unless you are on foot, a bike, or brought by a tuk tuk, is parking. This may be what has held them back so far. I love the food and the service and proprietors are wonderful, but I have intended to go there several more times and ended up driving by and going to somewhere else that had a place to park. Same for the Indian at the end of 80... had to change meal plans at least twice after scouring the area for parking and finding none.

This is the only place I've ever been where someone will open a business with no parking in the immediate area and expect to do well.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

I think that applies to pretty much any city or busy town in the World! You have to compromise and either park a bit further away, or find an alternative means of transport. If the place is good enough, it will still thrive.

HHF, just do as the Thais do and park your car in the middle of the road right outside your chosen venue.

Yes, where I work here in Luxembourg there must be about 100 restaurants in the traffic free, pedestrian zone of the city centre!

Some people just do not like to walk. Has to be literally 10 metres from their parked SUV. Guarantee most of them are portly and shun proper exercise or blame their health etc. I have difficulty walking now but at least I give it a go if the destination is worthwhile. Sorry HHF :duck:

Upside is the lack of traffic to pollute your meal anyway

Living in town and not having a car probably makes the decision easier too... :)

Sure but you can park whatever on the water board land between 80 and the Tessaban and it's only a 2 minute walk round the corner. In fact from there your only 5 minutes trot from most of central HH

yes its too bad that every restaurant, bar or shop not have minimum 5 parking lots so us fatass farrang
have to walk from our cars, but if you have problems with walking just do as Takiab suggest but be readyto move the car.
Funny how people ranting about all the cars in Hua Hin specially in the weekend and still they are a part of the problem themself, but of course you live here so you must have rights that tourist should not have :D
This rant is not pointed at any specific person just a thought after reading many different threat with farrang ranting about this and that.

My g/f has a car. She has discovered a place near the railway station, (secret) where she can always park and that of course is only a 5-10,walk from everywhere. If you are not prepared to walk that far, stay home and work on your will.

OK, so most of you take tuk tuks or motosis or don't mind walking a kilometer to a restaurant. I get it and I guess I'm in the minority on this complaint, but it keeps me from going out to eat; and no, in the U.S. (I never lived in New York or Chicago) ALL restaurants had a parking lot big enough to handle enough people to fill all their tables in any of the places I lived, including Memphis, San Jose, and Boca Raton, so I'm not used to driving around the block for 20 minutes to find a place to park or walking a mile to have dinner! :butt:

Yes that's true and with the exception of NY SF and a couple of other civilised cities you can drive to most restaurants then waddle into the restaurant

is that the secret place on the other side of the rails, or the secret place behind the railway workers bungalows?
