Amazon.com is setting up a program to deliver packages in the US with these things. I imagine rather large models, and I can imagine they may disappear if someone likes it and decides to keep it. No doubt they will be armed with auto locks, alarms, GPS tracking and probably total shutdown and self destruct. 8)

They're running into problems with the government/FAA though regarding commercial use and a lot of other roadblocks being thrown up. Pete

DJI seems to be a, or the leader in this field. Below for reference as full of valuable info:

EDIT: I know link(s) already listed in previous JJB post. Just putting them by themselves for quick reference

There is also a very informative forum - although less well-run than this one - for all things DJI Phantom that includes news, useful information, videos and some great stories:

http://www.phantompilots.com

You will also find J.J.B. there from time-to-time.

Good video taken at sea with a UAV. The operator actually films himself catching the UAV at the end. Pete

Life just got a lot more spicy and rich in the prosumer world for UAVs. Having only launched their Phantom 2 Vision in April this year, DJI have just announced the Inspire 1 that sits between the Phantom consumer model and their pro-level, S-series aerial camera platforms. http://www.dji.com/product/inspire-1

With looks straight out of a sci-fi film, retractable landing gear, a 4k upgradeable camera/gimbal system and dual operator control, it is the big boys' toy to have this Christmas. You will need a pretty fat wallet too, however, or a real need for one as it comes in at $3,000 and ships at the start of next month.

I'm seriously considering purchasing a Dji Phantom 2 Vision+. I'll be going to US next week for work and will consider buying there but I recently found that Dji has a shop in Bangkok too. Prices aren't that much different. I would of course love to have the new Inspire, but since I'm fairly new to this drone flying, the high price for the Inspire is a bit too much at this point in time.

If anyone living here are interested here's the link to the web page in Bangkok:

http://www.phantomthailand.com/

This is the one I will consider buying:
http://www.phantomthailand.com/product/ ... sion-plus/
https://store.dji.com/product/phantom-2-vision-plus

As a matter of fact with the currency exchange it is probably as good to buy it in Thailand!
Thailand: 42200 baht here which should be approx. 1290$
US: 1299$

Plus, however small the risk, you won't have to worry about getting stopped by customs and deprived of a big wedge
