Vehicle Registation

Chas posted this on another thread. We've always carried copies in the car but besides that point when stopped we have never been asked for it, neither the original nor a copy. The MIB seems happy just to check the dated windshield tax sticker.

Regardless, is there reference somewhere that indeed the original must be carried in the vehicle? Chas is right, it's a bit daft as everything is indeed gone if the car goes missing or is destroyed in an accident. Pete

I certainly will not carry the registration book in the car!! Insurance, yes, registration book, no!

A current photocopy is all that is needed; note that if you are buying on a loan plan, the loan company has the blue book and will give you a copy for official (including insurance) purposes.
The MIB won't know if the vehicle is on a loan plan or not, and it's none of their business, really.
