Nissan Dealership Hua Hin - A Word of Caution

Post by phartley58 »

HH Forum Readers,

Just a word of caution regards the Nissan Dealership in HH. Although I haven't been on the tools for a little over 20 years, I am a Mechanic by trade and therefore am quite sceptical when other mechanics give me a diagnosis of what might be wrong with my car.

After a visit to Nissan when it first opened, they pretty much diagnosed perfectly what I considered to be wrong with the car (wheel bearings and brakes) and gave me a decent quote on the price so I went ahead and let them do the job.

A second visit was made by my wife in my absence while away working, to have the A/C (which I'm not too up to speed on) repaired and all seemed well. However, a few months later it was faulty again. I returned to Nissan with the receipt from the work they had done and asked them to check it out bearing in mind the what they had previously done. They proceeded to tell me that the fault was in no way related to the previous work and that it would cost 9,500 baht for another repair which included a A/C compressor. This, I was highly dubious about so I visited a little place on the Petchkasem Road between Sois 58 & 60 for a second opinion. I gave them no information whatsoever and just let them crack on. Their diagnosis was that it just needed a re-gas due to a loose connection so I let them carry on. Once they'd finished I asked what condition they considered the compressor to be in. They said there was absolutely nothing wrong with it! Price for job...??? 300 baht! What a difference eh?

Just a cautionary tale...

P.S. Before anyone asks, I have no wish to do the work myself.

While I was at work a problem developed with the turbo on my year old Navara. It spent over a month in Nissan HH and then went back as they had not tightened up a fuel connection (sounds familiar to phartley58's problem). When I returned and had a chance to look a bit closer it was obvious that mice had been in the cab and also insects. Despite contacting Nissan Thailand I still do not know what went wrong with the turbo or why my wife was charged 3500 baht for lubes (the truck had been servicd not two months before the fault).
I bought the truck from Pranburi Nissan and that is where it will be taken for its next service. Another HH main dealer along with Toyota to be avoided.

I bought a Vios there four years ago and had some very shoddy work done where pipes where parts were not replaced that should have been. Bought a Hilux from Cha Am twenty two years ago and never had a problem. Now I take the Vios there rather than HH. Obviously peoples experiences will differ but both at Nissan and Toyota in HH I have had the same poor service so take my custom elsewhere.
