Sunday at Sam Roi Yod

Post by golfhelp »

I don't expect many know of the delightful nine hole course in this spectacular location. Well, 17 of us, mostly children played and I'm delighted to say we played a 17 ball!! Yes, I know there are going to be loads of you out there saying all sorts of things about that, but you see we let through a Thai 7 ball and had the place to ourselves, and did the kids enjoy! And they learnt.

I recommend a day there, beach, beer if you are so inclind and fun golf with some lovely holes. The course is an army course, it is not in great condition, but it has a wonderful appeal~and it is free!!

Following on from the post above, it is possible that a Sunday children's clinic competition my be held on this course under the guidance of a local pro~more on this later, but anyone who wants to contribute an idea for this let us know.

It is also possible to hit the ball over the green on the third hole with a kids junior wood.

I'll post some pics of the course shortly, its a great little spot.

My golfing partner has just announced that he has found his ball on the edge of the rough. I know he is lying, as I've been standing on it for the last 10 minutes. What should I do? (I've asked Wanderlust, but got no reply).

And there is always a local pro on hand to offer tips and advice:

Never been to the course but love the area, could it be made a once a month deal - get the kids into it, I know that there would be a few of us who would be more than happy to help the kids out with some real basic stuff - like dont hit your best buddy with a golf stick!

Nothing better than seeing kids smashing a golf balls.... love it!

Kids at Sam Roi Yod

Post by golfhelp »

JW Thanks for the offer--ACCEPTED!-- Yes, a couple of us are hoping to get this up and running and you are right, the sight last weekend of these kids smacking a ball and having real fun whilst at the same time learning was unbelievable to see. One or two also showed some real promise. Be in touch either here or at PEPPERS.

Are we talking about the 9 hole course at the end of Dolphin Bay per chance?

That's the one, I'm not a golfer yet but it looked nice enough to me!

A couple of golf tips from a newbie - do not under any circumstances let your wife near the clubs. This is for one of two primary reasons:

1) She'll take your head off with them ... or ...
2) She'll want to play herself and end up hitting it further than you

Or if you're a really unlucky bastard like me both will happen!

Seen a lot of guys who marry here end up getting their butts kicked by their wives - its really funny - they pretend they dont care but we all know they do!!

Buksi, I really miss the wookie!

:offtopic:

My Thai wife took up golf when we lived in the states and she was always down the middle so that when we played the shorter "executive" courses she competed with me, but she had no distance so I blew her away on a regulation par 72 course. :D

It's sad, isn't it?
One of the hallowed grounds that has been the preserve of male dominance is broken apart by the females.
Women getting good at the game -it's just not on.
Let alone that they even enjoy the game.
