Double Pricing @ Hua Hin Golf Courses?

Post by seasides »

A Dane who spends his winters here in Hua Hin told my golfing dad that actually there's a double pricing policiy among some Hua Hin golf courses.

Don't want to name any name, but in one case he had to get quite angry to get the Thai price. He finally got it, he assured.

Is that another unwritten law around here? Cheaper than advertised golfing for Thais?

That does not surprise me one little bit.

I know that Springfield only charge a grand for Thais and over 3 grand for farangs and I suspect many of the others in Hua Hin do also.

I thought that was the case at Royal Hua Hin but I didn't know they did it anywhere else.

Luckily I'm no golfer, but nobody thinking that's outrageous?

I'd love to hear about some double-pricing for Thai tourists abroad.

The military course at Tanarat also has a dual pricing policy!

BTW, has anyone heard about the new millitary course supposedly being built nearly oppposite the Banyan Estate? They say it will extend right down to the beach - a links course in Hua Hin?

Don't see anything outrageous about it at all. Western countries have been exploiting Asia for so long, it's a pretty minimal payback.

I've also seen this in several resorts in Canada such as Whistler or the Okanagan where local resident get a better price than people from out of the area. It helps to get players all year round as opposed to just during the tourist season.

It allows local people access to courses they might not be able to play otherwise.

And let's face it, they are not losing too many customers with these policies and the ones they might lose are obviously no the ones they want to attract in the first place.

Think you'll find this modus operandi is not just limited to golf courses.

Barry I saw the photos of the construction of the new army course. I think they were in the AWOL mag.

Well,if the Dane finally got the Thai price by standing his ground then surely everyone else should be able to do it .

Double pricing

Post by Pundi64 »

I think most of the courses here do it, I know Palm Hills is another one on the list of courses that do it.
All thais gouge money out of us frangs, it is total BS, but that is the way it is. The only way to change it is not pay the prices they ask, stop playing courses that double gouge money out of us, and favor there own, hell the Thais would'nt pay those hige prices.
If others in here know of any courses that do this, put them in another reply, and list them all. :guns:  :thumb: :cuss: :cuss: :cuss:

I'm all in, let's start dropping names:

The Dane's course was the

Lake View

He paid roughly half of what farangs have to pay after fighting his way through.

double pricing- golf courses

Post by icebear »

Majestic charged me 2 years ago a different green fee than for my Thai wife and since that time we've not gone back.

We're members in LV since 93/94 and have never heard of a double standard pricing. Maybe they're resorting to it too.

Happens all over the world and is often not hidden. See the link for entrance prices for Dunn's River Falls in Jamaica.

http://www.dunnsriverfallsja.com/rates_link.htm

The rate below was taken Sunday, February 15, 2009.
300 Jamaican Dollar = 3.52941 US Dollar

As you can see, the "Non resident" is being charged an entrance fee of 15 US Dollars.

valrhona,
Can I just pick you up an important point - for me at least.
I've played plenty of courses back home in the UK and quite often preferable treatment might be given to locals. Maybe for green fees (but not usually) tee times and general overall service.
I don't have a problem with that, but I've been local here for 11 years. Surely the price shouldn't be determined by the colour of my skin? But unfortunately it does a lot of the time as this thread is bearing out.
I hope you understand what I'm trying to get across. :thumb:
