You got an amazing golf course there! Is this also the 9-hole golf course described in [edited] If it is, then that's good news because I heard that tourists may use it, too. :D

Hello, I am new to this forum. Let me introduce myself: my name is Xilia. In november 2010 I am coming to Hua Hin with my husband for 4 1/2 months. We are renting a little house in Hua Hin. We visited Hua Hin last year for 3 weeks and we liked it so much that we now return while it is cold and rainy in Europe (the Netherlands). As my husband and I are enthusiastic golfers we would like to play as much as possible during our stay in Hua Hin, but we cannot afford the likes of Palm Springs, Springfield or Baan Banyaan on a regularly basis. We would like some information about membership to a more affordable course. Could somebody tell us about the Dhanarat course, the Milford (Seoul) and the new course near the sea/Khao Takiab, Sea Pine? What are the prices for playing, caddyfee etc. And what is the condition of the courses? Is it very busy during the week? We would appreciate some information.

I have been told that this course is now open, they are offering the golf festival rate of 800 + caddie, very likely to go up at the end of the month. Memberships are 100,000 for five years, not sure if Thais are given preference or there are any special clauses or prices for farangs.

I played it yesterday. I think it was the first day it was officially open. The clubhouse and facilities are not yet finished, but the course is in amazing condition in my opinion. The fairways/teeboxes are very lush and green. The greens are in great condition for their age. The only drawback I would say is the bunkers which are coral sand. Generally they bunkers were hard which was fine for a fairway bunker but tough to know what to do around the green. The other thing to note is that the caddies have not been trained yet and are their just to carry the bag. All of the caddies in my fourball knew nothing about golf. I was handed my driver twice on medium to short par 3's. They marked the ball on the greens about half of the time.

Layout is great and no two holes feel the same. It's well designed and challenging. Last few holes by the beach with those views are fantastic. Greenfees are 800 and caddie 250. As the clubhouse is not built there are no facilities for changing or showering. Some generals were out playing and their caddies were soldiers still in their fatigues......that was funny. Given it's proximity to town and the price of the course I think this is going to be a very popular course. I would rate it very close, (others rate it better) to the best courses around.

Played yesterday...Big :thumb: from me. Course is in super nick for its first week, great addition to golf in Hua Hin. To hear the sea on the last 3 holes is a memorable way to finish.

Front tees make it very manageable for all and the backs look like they could be a brute!

Do they have yardage markers?

Tee to green distances?

What about refreshments around the course?

It will be interesting for me to play without a caddies help. I've relied on them so far for reading the lines. Will have to do some work myself!

The lines on the greens aren't always read very well by caddies anyway. If you find a good one at a course, try to stick with them.
Again, IMHO, yardage markers are OK as far as they go, but you've got to trust your eye eventually as there are factors such as wind, how you're hitting the ball and have they got the distances right in the first place to take into account.
By the sound of things, you've made a very creditable start to the game, so maybe the sooner you rely on a caddie for "general information" such as answers to "is there any water down there?" and "where are the bunkers" when you're playing a blind shot and advice about the greens the first few times out on a new course, the quicker your talents will develop.
Just a thought as I'm blind, deaf and dumb with one arm, but manage to hack around without any problem in 2 under these days. I wonder if I'm actually playing a golf course?

Is it to be expected that this course will raise the price of the greenfee in the near future?

Lets hope not, if they continue to offer a good value deal they will hurt other courses and hopefully force some sense into pricing policies.

Played it this morning and agree with JW, in great condition and well worth a visit. Front 9 is easier than the back but this should change once they introduce the Blue and Black Tees. Also the weather was calm, but the last 3 holes will sharpen up with a good sea breeze.

Prices once the summer special finishes are rumoured to be 1,500 baht (weekdays) plus caddy, 250, and cart if required. Weekends could be 2,000 Baht.
