All I've heard so far is that Royal HH have confirmed that they're participating during August and September.
No other details as yet. Maybe JW or others know more?

Will be the usual deal pretty much all of the courses are involved and give 1000 baht green fee. BMG and Banyan are sometimes a little more.

1000 baht so that's 200 baht increase then over the last few years. Is inflation running at 25%JW wrote:Will be the usual deal pretty much all of the courses are involved and give 1000 baht green fee. BMG and Banyan are sometimes a little more.

Can't wait to have a few games at reasonable prices at reasonable times

Think you will find that the B800 is plus caddy fee B200, making B1000 total same as last year.
The 999 - 1999 probably reflects rates at week-ends, but only a guess

Didn't play last year but thought the 800 included caddy fee. Apologies to JW if I got that wrong. Old age is my excuse.PJG wrote:Think you will find that the B800 is plus caddy fee B200, making B1000 total same as last year.

Old age is my excuse too, but I did play last year nearly every week during the festival and it seems to me that 800 was only the green fee and the the caddy fee of 300 (one or two courses 250) was extra.Didn't play last year but thought the 800 included caddy fee. My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Being new to Hua hin golf does anyone know which courses are participating? Is it hard to get a game - how far in advance do you need to book for social golf and/or Sunday comps? What condition are the courses in at this time of the year?

If you search the net I'm sure you'll be able to find out which way the prevailing wind is -
Re: 2011 Cha-Am / Hua Hin Golf Festival
I havn't seen anything specific yet about the participating courses, but last year they were Springfield (slightly higher than normal 800 THB green fee. I think it was maybe 900 in August and 1,000 in September), Majestic, Lake View, Palm Hills, Royal HH, Kaeng Krachan. Black Mountain and Banyan didn't participate although I heard that the latter did have some sort of promotion running. I don't know their status this year. The above green fees don't include caddie.
I've played Palm Hills, Kaeng Krachan and Springfield recently and they'll all in really good condition (I hope Springfield have both A&B courses open for the festival and there's no need to play C). I hear that Majestic's good as well. Lake View is not so good but I've havn't been there since last year. Royal HH suffers from dryness at this time of year as water is limited. It's a great course though and maybe by the time you come we'll have had some more rain. Didn't mention Sea Pines and I'm not sure if they're participating. I hear that's in good condition also.
When people ask about the courses, I always mention a couple of others that are a bit further afield, namely Royal Ratchaburi and Dragon Hills. Can't speak for DH's condition as havn't played it since last year, but it's a great course. Was at Royal Ratchaburi last week and as ever it's in great condition. Both courses are a little less than 2 hours away so a minivan would be necessary but if you're splitting the cost it might not work out too bad. Mid week, RR is 740 THB incl caddie and DH 760 THB incl caddie.
I'd advise you to book tee times through the festival. I don't know anything about the Sunday competitions.

Re: 2011 Cha-Am / Hua Hin Golf Festival
wouldn't mind going along for a few games during the Festival, but not having played in it before i'm a bit apprehensive for the following reasons:
1. I'd term myself as a social golfer - i like to play but don't get upset if i'm playing badly, if i hit a bad shot (or several) i didn't mean too.
2. I do have a handicap (current is 16.5) but my card shows 16.2 - as last time home i played and registered my scores online but it was 8 weeks between.
3. i might get paired up with people who are very serious and it takes the fun out the game as far as i'm concerned.
