Stableford Points Lakeview

Post by Geko »

Can anyone advise the SI ratings for playing Stableford Points at Lake View when playing the 'C' and 'A' courses, the score card only shows for ratings for 'A' and 'B' or 'C' and 'D'?

Lake View is one of the few courses in Thailand without a Slope & Course Rating. Most societies when playing there use an SSS of 72 on A/B and 74 on C/D. Any other combination is usually 73. The Stroke index per hole is odd on A & C and even on B & D. If you play A & C then add 1 to the stroke index of every hole on C. If playing B & D subtract 1 from the stroke index of every hole on D.

A rating is only necessary when playing with handicaps. Professional- and open competitions don't need a rating. If Lake View joined the Thai Golf Association it would be forced to have a course- and slope rating. The main problem seems to be the enormous cost of getting a course rated. I have heard a quote that it costs about 1,000,000 Baht per 18 holes. I can believe this as I know the enormous amount of work and specialist knowledge needed to rate a course.

Can Chang Beer(& water) not afford 1million Baht? im sure there's a few of us on here who would do it for them for a lot less! ;-) i wonder what they will do to it 01.01.23 when all the memberships finish? ps ive played AB about 25 times and CD about 10 times and i just gone through all the holes in my head, im not sure i think C/D is two shots harder than A/B and especially for a SCRATCH golfer which is what a SSS is based on. I must say though that i cant get near that C6 even off the whites ...but im only little!
