Apart from the cultural differences, from the scenes of absolute devastation that you see I think you would find it difficult to find much worth looting even if you were that way inclined.

Ah, but surely one cannot say that all of America is a society of thieves and looters, and yet the Japanese aren't? Personally, I think the real explanation is blatantly obvious, but as I'm no highly skilled spin doctor, I'll refrain from opening my mouth....lol :thumb: It is interesting though that the Thais have picked up on this, and are actually commenting about it on TV.

It appears that UK people are starting to worry/inquire about friends/relatives in Japan and seems that there have been over 4000 contacts to the Foreign Office about people they know.

Doesn't look good...............http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-12728905

Second nuclear reactor suspected of exploding unless the Japanese government finds a way to negate the meltdown. Over 17,000 people evacuated.

Yet, the government claims that "the radiations haven't reached dangerous levels yet."

Go figure...

That is old news - I think it actually exploded at least half a day before your post.

I talked to my Japanese friend in Tokyo yesterday and he is 100% convinced that the government is not giving the population the true and full story. Somewhat easy to do as no reporter in his right mind is going to try to get close to those facilities. Things will come out when/if a high level of radiation is detected by another country or some satellite. Pete

I've been thinking that myself for a couple of days. I'm sure there are already plenty of spy satellites from several countries also closely monitoring the situation. However, there's likely to be a ring of silence for some time yet.

Grim news but expected. For every body that washes back in there is probably one that doesn't. They found an elderly man alive and in good shape yesterday floating on his roof 10 miles out to sea. Pete

It's not quite so obvious to me; are you saying that there is some racial or genetic propensity to loot?
