I've got to go to Pattaya next month, so thought I'd give it a go - fully booked.

Hua Hin to U-Tapao is 20:40 to 21:10 (same days as above).

I now see what buksi means about the return flight, but it's a typo. When you try to book, the Chiang Mai times are actually the U-Tapao times :?

Well, the flights eventually came on line, but in the end:

- Times were not really suitable.

- Unsuitable flight times could have been overcome by hiring a car, but U Tapao is not very friendly to people wanting to hire a car. Some companies were competitively priced, but charged 1000 Baht deliver and 1000 Baht collection fees, while others were charging 1750 Baht/day for what is essentially an 800 baht car.

Nice thought, but not practical for my needs this time  I'll drive.

So looking at the timetable, is only 30 mins flight, that is not to bad, or is there a time difference between Hua Hin & Utapo.
Will be interesting to see how it goes, good for people who want to come to Hua Hin for Golf and also good for a weekend in Pattaya in Pattaya going the other way. Go Friday night and come back Sunday Night. Good weekend away time

U-Tapao isn't exactly Pattaya is it ? 45 minutes away... terrible taxi prices to Pattaya..They need a closer airport.

I know it is a way away from Pattaya, but is the closest that I know. Might be better to get your hotel in Pattaya to organise a transfer, may be cheaper than local taxis.

Pattaya to Hua Hin flights have started
Chiang Mai-based Kan Air now operates direct flights from Pattaya (U Tapao Airport) to central and southern destinations in Thailand, including Hua Hin. Meanwhile an agreement has been signed over development of U-Tapao Airport as a 3rd airport serving Bangkok.

The new flight to Hua Hin now operates four times a week to and from U Tapao (20 km south of Pattaya) and is the first service linking the two locations that are on either side of the Gulf of Thailand. The service started on 29th May. The airline also operates three weekly flights to Hat Yai in Songkhla province. The town is a major commercial centre with highway and rail links to nearby Malaysia. A three-weekly service also links U-Tapao (Pattaya) to Surat Thani town.

Surat Thani is the nearest mainland town to the resort island of Samui. There are bus services from Surat Thani airport to the island’s ferry port. The airline uses a 66-seat ATR72-500 to serve all three destinations. The airline has set a one-way fare at THB490 from U Tapao to Hua Hin, including airport taxes and fees. The 50 minute Hua Hin –Pattaya (U-Tapao) flight are on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, departing Hua Hin at 2040 (8.40 PM) and arriving 2110 (9.10 PM). Pattaya departures are on the same days at 1940 (7.40 PM).

 Really, I was on the verge of booking with them recently for my trip to Pattaya. I'd worked a fair way through the booking process before realising timings didn't really suit.

Sorry, I cannot read the link, but Kan Air have held an AOC / AOL for several years:

Maybe you are refering to the following joint venture? With curent ICAO questions the AOC may not have been issued.

Here's the Google Translate version:

"PATTAYA: Already on 15 June, the FARANG had reported that all flights of the regional airline Air Kan were canceled from the U-Tapao Pattaya International Airport Rayong. From one day to the next the Pattaya nearby airport was removed from the flight plan and has since no longer the booking interface callable.

A demand of the editors at Kan Air revealed that the airline is still waiting for the grant of start permission to flights from U-Tapao may perform. However, groups of 6, 12 and 66 persons private aircraft airline from U-Tapao can book in advance, informed an employee of the marketing department.

Previously, Kan Air had campaigned to join Pattaya by air with Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen, Ubon Rathachthani, Udon Thani, Hua Hin and Hat Yai and offer a shuttle service from the tourist center to the airport. Info: www.kanairlines.com.

Do you have to start the propellers yourself for this flight ? I love those old school planes, good workout for the biceps just like my grandfathers lawnmower.

Are there any flights that leave Hua Hin airport to any destination in the world anymore ? I get the feeling the place is a ghost town and is either closed or will be closing soon.
