Large pet beds?

Post by hhfarang »

We've had two adopted outdoor soi dogs for ten years and one passed away a few days ago. The other one is having what I perceive as emotional problems at being alone outside so much now so we've been letting her in and she will sit on a towel near the door obediently and happily with us in the room (I can't have her wandering the house as I am allergic to dogs and it can cause me asthma problems.

So... if we are going to let her sit inside often I thought that instead of a towel I should get a proper comfortable dog bed. She's a large dog so I need a big one (I've only seen smaller ones at most of the vet shops) that is washable or with a washable cover.

Can anyone point me to a place that sells beds for large dogs?

I'm sorry to hear about your pet HHF. :( I've followed the antics of your snake killing duo for years now. I hope the other one adjusts in time. Pete

At the Makro store heading towards the airport, there is a large pet shop to the right in the car park that sells that kind of thing. I was there in December with my neighbour and they seemed to have many dog beds, I wasn't shopping so I didn't pay attention to how large they went but it's the biggest range of pet products I've seen in Hua Hin.

So sorry to hear about your dog! For our dog we went to Tesco's and bought a human duvet and he; has had those ever since. They are easy to wash and dry within a short time; folded into half or a quarter they provide plenty of comfort for a dog

Thanks for the replies and condolences. Lucky, the tan one you've seen photos of on here several times died of mast cell cancer. We've known he had it for about 3 months, but it was found in a very late stage and the only reasonable option was to give him meds for pain, appetite, to keep him from throwing up, and to keep him comfortable as long as possible. He seemed to be doing better, in fact had gained a couple of kilos to his heaviest weight ever (probably due to the meds helping with his appetite) but he started throwing up in spite of the meds and we took him to the hospital. They wanted to keep him for a couple of days to run some tests, primarily on his kidneys but they called the next morning to say he had passed. Needless to say, we were gutted that he died alone in a cage at night in the hospital.

As suggested on another thread we went to a Wat (up Soi 6 I think) and had a four Monk service for him and cremation. We scattered his ashes in the gardens at the Wat.

He was a great dog and we will miss him. Now we have to give our remaining Solo a lot more attention as she seems to be confused about what happened to Lucky since the last she saw we took him away in the car and didn't bring him back. I guess maybe we should have taken her to the funeral for closure, but there are so many ferral dogs around the Wat that I was afraid to.

So sorry to hear about your dog. Glad you were able to deal with the Wat and organize a service.
I second Pet Land on the corner of Soi 16.

I've got a Rottweiler which is a fairly large dog. I have bought her beds at the pet shop @ Makro. They had at least 2 types that were large enough for my Rottie :D

Way over priced shop for what you get, however there is a shop a few hundred meters before Makro on the same side where they have sensible prices.
