yeh we're all singing from the same hymn sheet there.I used the VIP bus last year for the first time and was impressed with the VFM........ beats a 2500kb taxi any day of the week so I will use that as another moneysaver.
Re: Emirates flight charges to BKK
The main reason I stopped coming to Hua Hin and now go to Phuket, was the getting there cost from the airport, plus the 3-4 hours extra traveling time. I have not flown into the new airport, only DM, but my 1st trip was taxi to the Bus Station and then the local bus (never again would I do that one). Return trip and subsequent trips cost me upto 2750baht in a cab.
So to get to and from the airport was about 5500-6000 on top of airfares.
I have been mainly going to Phuket/Samui/Krabi now for the last 7-8 years due to the fact that I can get a direct flight from Perth and be in Phuket in 6.5 hours, 50 minute trip from the airport and you are there.
With the airport bus, you still have the 3-4 hrs travel from the airport, but the 305baht fare takes one hell of cost out of the trip. So perhaps it is time to make another trip to Hua Hin in the future.

I prefer the airport bus. Anybody taken it either was this week? Is the road open all the way?

Chelsea, the bus people give the worst case scenario time, so as to avoid complaints. My experience in about 10 trips
HH to airport, best time 2h 50m, usual time 3h 15m worst time 3 35M.
airport toHH, best time 3h 10m usual 3h

Re: Airport VIP Bus to and from Hua Hin
Anyone know how far in advance you can order tickets online? Tried to book 2 seats for December but will not let me.
Re: Airport VIP Bus to and from Hua Hin
I know most people love this bus but I have a completely different opinion. I would rather take the regular private express busses and taxi from the Southern bus station. People have raved about how comfy the seats are on this airport bus. I took it once and the seat lean back at such an angle (not adjustable) that I felt like I was sliding forward all the way and my back was killing me when we arrived. Plus, sorry, but I cannot go that long without a bathroom break, which the big bus gives you with a 15 minute stop enroute. I tried like hell to use that bathroom in the airport bus and was not only beaten to death bouncing off the walls but gave up trying to pee as most of it would have sprayed around the room or on me, and no, I'm not going to try to sit down and get up again in a bouncing swaying vehicle toilet with a filthy seat.
A horrible experience for me.
Plus a general warning about the bus station that those private busses leave from. It has steps in front as well as a wheel chair ramp. I put my missus on a bus about a month ago and was walking back to the car parked out front and stepped on the wheel chair ramp (because it comes before the stairs). It had been lightly raining and that ramp is covered in regular (not non-slip) ceramic tiles. As soon as I stepped on it I started sliding exactly as if on ice and then my feet flew up in the air and I landed hard on my back butt and head. I saw stars for a few minutes (possibly mild concussion), had a black bruise completely covering one butt cheek accompanied by a half inch raised area the size of a tennis ball, and broke a rib.
That was a month ago and the bruise is lighter but still there with swelling and I still cannot sleep in a bed (have to use reclining chair instead) because of the pain in my right side due to the rib.
Just be aware that if it has been raining walk the couple of extra steps and take the stairs. Damn! If this had happened in the U.S. I'd be a millionaire now!

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
Re: Airport VIP Bus to and from Hua Hin
I used the bus for the first time last week. I found the seats comfortable enough, and they were adjustable on both of my journeys.
I have, however vowed not to use them on a regular basis (not that I'm a regular visitor to Bangkok. IMO it took us twice as long as driving on the Bangkok leg, and at least 2 hours longer on the homeward leg. The bus time was 3:50 outbound and 3:02 on the homeward leg. In addition to the bus times you have to travel to and from the bus stops, with the associated extra cost - I was not impressed.
I also had doubts the Bangkok bus would make it. At low speed, it either had a very dodgy gearbox, or the driver did not know that you need to change down sometimes.
I did not try the toilet, but my wife reckoned I would not fit anyway.
I will definitely drive on future Bangkok visits - greater flexibility, and faster. IMHO they provide a first class service getting to and from the airport.

What car have you got BB - a Bugatti Veyron? If the homeward journey took 3:02 and that was 2 hours longer than you take when driving, that means you could do it in just over an hour?Big Boy wrote:I used the bus for the first time last week. What associated cost travel to and from the bus stop. If you drive your own car you park there in the Bus Station parking lot for free. Can't get any cheaper than that.

I'm curious about that option. Do the private buses to the Southern bus station use the same HH bus station used by the airport vip bus? What were the taxi fares from the southern station to your Bangkok destinations?hhfarang wrote:I would rather take the regular private express busses and taxi from the Southern bus station.
Re: Airport VIP Bus to and from Hua Hin
I've been in outhouses that were cleaner and smelled better than the airport vip bus toilets. After the first aborted attempt I realized there are only two places on route where it can be used without bouncing around like a pinball: when creeping along the right turning flyover to get on the toll, and where traffic always jams up 5-10 km before the airport.hhfarang wrote:I tried like hell to use that bathroom in the airport bus and was not only beaten to death bouncing off the walls but gave up trying to pee as most of it would have sprayed around the room or on me, and no, I'm not going to try to sit down and get up again in a bouncing swaying vehicle toilet with a filthy seat.
