 Maybe not worry about laying high speed rail tracks - just build a few canals - no worries about Thais crossing the track on their motorcycles etc :D

Strange how there is no requirement to put up information boards except for major developments.
Actually there is a sign at the fishing pier, in Thai only, wife read it but could not explain.

But back to topic

Off topic, but just to explain the sign at the fishing pier, as it was brought up here. Basically it's a notice put up by the fish marketing organisation to explain that despite what some people are saying they are redeveloping the site to provide a cleaner and more hygienic place for the seafood trade and for the benefit of the local community. There is no truth in what some people are saying, that it will be an entertainment area. If people continue to say such things they will be sued.

Perhaps a sign explaining the project in the first place could have avoided rumors and threats of legal action.

Nothing to do with ferries.

Ouch!!! How harsh is that? If people tell you nothing, it's human nature to invent your own version of the truth.

Thoughts: Did they say 1 hour each way, or one month each way?

Of course they can implement it on 1 Jan 2017 then to be followed by a few years of Environmental studies, financial viability studies, then god knows how long to build the facilities, remember Hua Hin Jetty has been getting rebuilt for over one year. Then of course procuring the vessels, sea trials, training staff, the list is endless. This thread will be still going and we will still be waiting in 2020.

But the article shows the ship (photo is heavily copyrighted) they are supposedly going to use - hence my one month comment.

Surely that's the launch of the project. The feasibility study has only just been completed. Siam Logistics are supposed to be in charge of the project at a cost of 15 billion baht with more than half of that to be spent on building 3 new ports. An article I read earlier this year said once the feasibility is complete, it's planned to be in operation in 2020.

Everything I'm reading, and repeated by the Tourist Police earlier today, they are definitely saying starts service twice daily from 1 Jan'17. We'll soon find out for definite.

Are we sure this is the same project that has been announced previously. The catamarans were advertised as carrying 400 passengers as well as cars, motorbikes and freight. Even the company is different. I'm wondering if this is a separate venture to beat/replace the original plans.

If you read the article, only one company, Royal Passenger Liner Co.,Ltd applied to run the route. I guess it's all been downsized, hence me comment, "Surely a wind up................................"

I've tried Googling Royal Passenger Liner Co.,Ltd, but nothing applicable was thrown up.

The Manager has a report dated 10th Nov http://www.manager.co.th/iBizChannel/Vi ... 0000112295 with slightly more detail. It states that the craft will be a 150 passenger catamaran, though it has the same picture as The Pattaya Daily News. And later there will be a larger craft to carry 260 passengers. As for a full service ferry that can also carry vehicles, that's still being studied.
