Shopping in Bangkok...

Post by berberi13 »

Hi there!

Me and my girlfriend are coming to Hua Hin next week (first-timers in Thailand). We have heard that shopping might be better do in Bangkok.

Anyways we were wondering what we should do about this.; should we take a train, or a bus and try to "survive" on our own in Bangkok. Or should we try get a trip from the local "travel offices". We would like to stay one night in Bangkok, visit MBK, eat in a good restaurant maybe...

B

Others may be able to advise on the best means of transport but a single day in Bangkok might not be enough unless you really know what you want and are on a mission to get it. Depends how much time you have obviously but for a contrasting shopping experience to MBK try Chatuchak (or Jatujak as its sometimes written) market. It's easy to get to via the skytrain (as is MBK) once in BKK and is a sprawling open air affair selling everything from plants and animals to furniture, crafts and curiosities. Lots of food stalls there where you can try most local standard dishes. Have a good time! :thumb:

You will find nearly everything on Chatuchak Market, but the big Market on Chatuchak is only on Week-end,for clothes try Pratunaam.
The Skytrain is a perfect way to move in Bangkok but has only two lines,so you cant reach every place there.
If you are not sure about any kind of transport, just get a taxi for a few Baht and insist that he turns the taximeter on.
Have a nice time
