Next week I will need a taxi with a 'safe driver' to go to Swampy-Airport..any suggestions please..??
(I cannot use any of the taxi-drivers that loiter outside City-Beach Hotel..because that's where my last driver operates from, + he knows the wife, ( he's suicidal on that BKK Rd..never-again!).
Thanks..

I've PM'd you the number of the people I've been using for the last few years, 2000bt with decent vehicles, no suicidal driving and polite.

I pay 1500 baht, but it's my mates driver. If you want to just grab someone it can be 2500, to 3k..
But 2k is the norm. Also some times i just scout a meter taxi that is here on a drop off. It can be as little as 1000, But i give a tip..Hope that helps

The wife and I are arriving next month and will need a safe, reliable driver to get from Swampy to HH; over the last several trips out we have been using the same driver however he has been charging us 3,000 bht. each way. I see from these recent posts that people are paying anywhere between 1,500-2,000 bht. for the same service, therefore would like to get on the same scheme.

It's important that the driver speaks reasonable English, as neither I nor the wife speak Thai, also 4 days after we arrive my sister and old Mum will also be arriving to visit and I would envisage having the same driver pick them up from the airport, however as neither of them have ever been in Thailand before, it's really important that the driver is 110% reliable and very safe.

If anyone could PM me with the name(s)/contact number(s) of any driver(s) they know who fit the bill, it would be much appreciated.

I pay 2000 one way which i think is a fair price when you think of the oil prices
and if the driver have to make some money too.
I use the same guy for some years now and he is always there and is politeand drives
safely and never cars older than 3-4 years.
But i think 3000 for a return is fair to because hes not driving back empty ,i now
sometimes they wait for other costumers to later or next day.
Safe journey to all of you.

Totally agree with you. Most of the drivers I know say that they are just covering running costs at B2000 one way to Bkk/ Airports. They say they do this in the hope they can hook you up for local travel around HH where the going rate for instance HH TO Cha-Am is B450 /500 for- a 25 kms run.

I have now had the same driver Mr. Ning for nearly 1,5 years. Drives a faily new Toyota Camry, is alway precise, and driving carefully.
The first time I booked him, was true a local company here in HH. Price THB 2200, which I think was a fair price. Mr. Ning told me that from the 2200 he get 1300, and his cost including Tool on the heighway was 1100. I made an agrement with him, as I often go to BKK. THB 1800 from BKK and 1600 the other way, and we are both happy. Have to ad that I´m a nice man, so I always pay him 2000 eatch way. Leo

Who did you get that price from Richard, do you have a link?

We have a group of people hoping to come over around the same time (visas permitting) but have been quoted around 90,000 Baht return!
I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

KD and Richard, have you tried ticking economy?

I've just paid £585 with Qatar in September, Emirates is the same.

I know we have drifted off topic somewhat, but you need to be comparing apples with apples - Richards quoted fare (which did look surprisingly cheap) was BKK-LHR return, are you all quoting the same or is it LHR-BKK return, as the prices can be significantly different? Ok :offtopic:

Mine is from Manchester, it doesn't explain the little £1200 difference between mine and KDs quote.

Yes that figure of 90,000 looks wrong and might be premium economy because a quick scan of prices on EVA's website for a mid Aug rtn flight from BKK to LHR was just over 52000 baht, still a fair bit more than Richards price, but maybe he was just lucky? :D

As someone said earlier. UK to BK return is way cheaper than BK to UK return
