I shared a taxi with friends to the airport..1,800B, steady drive...I thought that was a good price. :thumb:
(The guy's based in BKK..will give you lot his ph.No later..if allowed to..?)
BUT..never mind the price, what about the driver..?? :?
So,so many taxi-drivers drive like twats..you are not a passenger, you're cargo! :cuss:
I know it's a gamble, but how about a list of 'safe' drivers?..ones that can bear to drive at 100kph.

I have a fantastic driver. Been using him for a couple of years and many trips to and from Bangkok.
Nice clean car. Friendly man. Safe driver.
Sometimes I want him to go faster. He will stop anywhere you want as long as its reasonable.
Always on time at the airport or my house in Hua Hin. Has never been late once. Now I jinxed that of course.
I have recommended him to a few people who now use him with 100% results.
PM me for his name and number. You won't be disappointed.

That's one bad experience that you had to go searching for, against loads of contrary advice here. Why ask for our advice, if you're going to search for negative feedback elsewhere?

Personally I'd never pay for a taxi in advance. I've used 2 very reputable sources for taxiing either to or from HH to BK , for a trip to Kanchanamburi or Ban Suphan and back. Even rented them for a day (2500bht) to go anywhere and back from HH.

Even the most reputable do have hiccups and there is no way I'm going to be left stranded in HH when I need to catch a flight from BK

FYI, a few days ago I took a taxi from the Suvarnabhumi queue on the ground floor and it was B2600. I seriously considered flying, but when I checked the flight was already sold out(!).

I have seen two references in this thread to taking a flight from bangkok to Hua Hin. When I search the internet there are not any scheduled flights into Hua Hin from BKK. I am I missing something.

Last time I arrived I just did the 'wandering around looking a bit lost like a first time arrival' thing and it wasn't long before I had plenty of people offering me taxis. I then whooped them over the head with the "seasoned visitor with negotiation skills" mallet (catch them unaware, see) and managed to get myself a ride for 1800bt.

@armycw4ret: I suspect the only place you'll find info on the local airline is on their web site or by calling them. I doubt they have any interline ticketing or baggage agreements with other airlines, much less will they be shown on internet travel reservations sites. Those things cost the airline money, and at the scale of the current operation (and fares), the expense is probably not justified.
