Maeklong Railway Market

Post by Big Boy »

After wanting to see this spectacle for many years, we visited yesterday. It was absolutely amazing.

We combined our visit with a trip to Amphawa Floating, which turned out to be the worst of the Bangkok floating markets that we have visited by far. The only thing to put it above the Hua Hin floating markets was that it was free admission. Amphawa is a weekend only market, which made it very popular with visitors, and parking was horrendous.

The train market is a bucket list type activity, well worth seeing, The train arrives and departs 4 times each day arriving at 8.30 a.m., 11.10 a.m., 2.30 p.m. and 5.40 p.m. The market is just off the Hua Hin to Bangkok, so well worth a short diversion.
