Transport, Bangkok to Hua Hin

Post by oakdale160 »

I have a friend coming to HH and asked for info about coming to HH. He will stay in Bangkok fora few days then come down. I have advised him to return to the airport and take the VIP bus down, He has used the minibus previously when it went from VicMom. Where does it go from now?? One other question. Where does the VIP bus terminate now, in town or out at HH airport?

An alternative to going back to Suvarnabhumi Airport is to take the Dusit Thani VIP bus from the Dusit in Rama 4 / Silom Bangkok to the Dusit north of Hua Hin Airport. If staying in HH town, then take the Dusit shuttle or a sangtaew into the town. I think the cost of about 400 baht but its a nice Mercedes Benz van so is quite comfortable.

I never knew that, I'll give that a try next time.

Update on the hua hin to bangkok bus, it left from the bus station near soi 96, cost 155bht, older style bus than the vip airport bus, but very comfortable, 24 reclining seats(mine had a built in massage machine!!) airconditioned, free water, and toilet on board, takes 3 and half hours and stops outside the chatuchak markets, next to the mo chit bts, 10 mins by bts to sukhimvit, very convenient and safer than the mini buses at around the same price. The bus leaves bangkok from their depot which is about 7kms from mo chit bts. I think it leaves 5 times a day in both directions.

Yes, not a great surprise. You can do just so much keeping late 1960's design and construction attractive and competitive. I'm wondering if their Bangkok > Hua Hin and Bangkok > Pattaya Sprinter van service will continue during the new construction period. I can imagine that corner area of Silom and Rama IV will be a mess with construction equipment and truck traffic during the entire wrecking/building period, unless they bring everything in/out via a different back soi route. I'm planning a visit to KhaosanRoad on my next HuaHin trip. I'm thinking of staying for only 2-3 nights, probably on my way back, as I will then be rather close to the airport for a morning departure and jumping on the airport-HuaHin is very convenient.

I'm currently researching multiple routes, depending on how I will structure the trip, possibly making use of the HuaHin-Pattaya ferry. Routes of interest are; HuaHin-Khaosan, Khaosan-HuaHin, Pattaya-Khaosan, Khaosan-Pattaya.

From Hua Hin to Khaosan Road, best solution? I was thinking airport bus and a taxi from airport to Khaosan (or in reverse order), but it feels like it must be a better solution out there. Like a bus terminal in the city or something.
