tours

Post by albak »

Read in a guide book that there is a crossing into Myanmar/Burma not far from Hua Hin and tours taxis can be arranged in Hua Hin ,any info greatly appreciated .
Will be in Hua Hin next month for 3 weeks .
Also is it far to the floating market or would it be better to travel there from Bangkok , have just checked and we have been coming to Thailand for 11 years and still have not seen the market , the reason is that we usually travel with our disabled son , who is not coming with us this time ,and as he is a full time wheelchair user did not think it would be suitable or worthwhile just sitting on canal bank .
Thanks in anticipation , Alan Baker

Hi Alan
The nearest 'crossing' into Burma is at Prachuab Khirikhan (about 80km South of Hua Hin). It is only open to Thai's though and westerners can't cross, most people use the immigration there to get visa extensions.

Next after that is Victoria Point at Ranong (5-6 hours south) where you can cross over and visit the town/market on the Burmese side. Again a lot of the expat community go there monthly for visas. There is also the Three Pagodas Pass in Kanchanaburi province but again I'm not sure that its open to westerners.

The floating market (Damnoen Saduak) is in Ratchaburi province, closer to Bangkok than Hua Hin (although tours can be booked from here).
Hope this helps

To go to Damnoen Saduak from Hua Hin how long does it take and where is the best place to book it with english speaking guide. We travel with two kids 2 and 5 years so we need a good boat as well.

Any idea of cost for sutch a excursion ? :o
