Farang deaths in Thailand

Post by hhfarang »

Warning: Ignore this thread if you have a weak stomach (graphic news photos) or certainly if you've recently lost a friend or loved one in Thailand.

I posted it as it is a shocking thread from tumblr of news stories about mostly unnatural and violent deaths of foreigners in this country.... twenty one pages of these deaths and it only covers the last year, and only the ones reported in the media. Very sad.

I wonder, statistically speaking, how this compares to foreigner deaths per expat or visitor population in other countries.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Yes, I realized some time ago that the death rate for expats in Thailand was very high compared with other countries but I think much of this is related to the fact that many people are living a kind of lifestyle that is inherently risky and that is why they're in Thailand, they're living more of a life on the edge as it were.
Of course, you could stay at home in the rain and play the odd game of dominoes and even if you don't live any longer, it will certainly feel like you did!

Depressing, so I only looked at 3 months worth. Mostly road traffic accidents, drownings, heart attacks, suicides and did he jump or was he pushed balcony exits. There was the odd elderly ex-pat murdered by a partner, which makes sobering reading.

I believe Thais have a higher likelihood of dying from shootings and accidents at work.
