A few moments of reflection and remembrance for the almost quarter million killed or missing 10 years ago this coming Friday. For those of us here in Thailand at the time, the news was so slow in coming I think it was 48 hours before anyone not directly involved had any real grasp of the magnitude of the event and situation. The Bangkok Post just reported that there are 369 bodies still not identified or claimed. http://www.bangkokpost.com/news/general ... identified RIP to all.
Some very good BBC video and photos below. Pete

Have been following it this morning on the BBC - hard to believe it's been 10 years. The magnitude of the disaster still hard to take in.

Re: Tsunami 10 Years on....
10 years on and it seems like yesterday in my memory.
We thank our lucky stars our beach house was on the gulf of Thailand and not on the other coast, or maybe, we would not be here now.
We had phoned relatives in UK on Christmas day as usual and on boxing day my sister phoned to give us the news she had seen on BBC, she cried when she heard we were OK and we were completely unaware the Tsunami had happened.
Watched a couple of TV programmes over the last few days on the disaster. Still affects me, to see all the lives lost.
One programme was on the volunteers from all over the World, who had the task of identifying the dead.
One German guy, who was part of the identification task force, spent 7 months in psychiatric care when he got home, as he was so traumatised but said he would do it again in a heartbeat if he had to.
The worry is, that it could happen again and those countries close to the epicentre would be devastated again. Let us hope not.

I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

It could very well happen again, with similar results:
